The Chemical Engineering Department congratulates Palas Borkar on being named the 2025 recipient of the Arthur F. Taggart Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME)!
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the science of mineral processing and honors Palas’s paper, “Leaching of Manganese Using Bio-solubilized Iron Reductant to Prevent Manganese Carbonate Formation,” published in Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration in 2026.
Palas’s research highlights important contributions to advancing mineral processing science and reflects the impact of innovative research in the field.
He will be recognized at the SME Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, in March 2027.
