The Michigan Tech Department of Chemical Engineering is proud to congratulate Kwabena Boafo, advised by Dr. Timothy Eisele, on being selected as the 2025 recipient of the Arthur F. Taggart Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME).
The award recognizes the best paper or series of papers making a notable contribution to the science of mineral processing. Kwabena is being honored for his paper, “Leaching of Manganese Using Bio-solubilized Iron Reductant to Prevent Manganese Carbonate Formation,” published in Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration in 2026.
Kwabena’s research has earned recognition for its contribution to the field of mineral processing.
Kwabena will receive the award at the MINEXCHANGE 2027 SME Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado, in March 2027.
