The Michigan Tech Chemical Engineering Department proudly congratulates two of our outstanding alumni, Tina Schmiedel ’84 and Mary Kate Mitchell Lane ’17, on being recognized as recipients of the 2026 Michigan Tech Alumni Awards.
Presented annually by the Michigan Tech Alumni Board of Directors, the Alumni Awards program has celebrated exceptional graduates since 1969. The awards recognize alumni who exemplify the values of Michigan Technological University through professional achievement, leadership, service to the University, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and professions.
The Chemical Engineering Department is especially proud to see Tina Schmiedel recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award, one of the University’s highest honors, and Mary Kate Mitchell Lane honored with the Outstanding Young Alumni Award for her impressive achievements early in her career.
These awards reflect the excellence, leadership, and dedication that Tina and Mary Kate have demonstrated throughout their professional journeys and serve as an inspiration to current and future Michigan Tech Chemical Engineering students.
All recipients will be honored during the Alumni Awards Ceremony as part of Alumni Reunion 2026.
Congratulations, Tina and Mary Kate, on this well-deserved recognition. Your accomplishments continue to bring distinction to the Michigan Tech Chemical Engineering community.
