Alex Sergeyev and Ving Nuygen to Meet with National Policymakers

Department of Applied Computing professor Alex Sergeyev and Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering assistant professor Vinh Nguyen will represent Michigan Technological University at an education-focused Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus (AI Caucus) event in Washington DC on September 19, 2024.

The non-partisan AI Caucus brings together experts from academia, government and the private sector to inform policymakers of the technological, economic and social impacts of advances in AI and to discuss the implications and opportunities created by AI.

Co-organized by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the event will showcase an exemplary AI-related research project from each major STEM education-related unit of NSF.

Sergeyev and Nguyen will present their $999,930, three-year NSF Experiential Learning for Emerging and Novel Technologies (ExLENT) grant titled, “Beginnings Track: Experiential Learning for the Mechatronics Workforce in the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan.”
