Outdoor Science Investigations Field Trips

The 2023 Spring Field Trip registration is currently open.

Using the outdoors as a classroom is a great way to get students excited about science engineering, and the environment and create connections to the place that surrounds them!

Since 2001 the Center for Science & Environmental Outreach at Michigan Technological University has offered outdoor learning experiences in science and environmental education for K-12 students in the five western counties of the Upper Peninsula.

Field trip activities enhance classroom learning and are correlated to Michigan K-12 Standards for Science. During the activities, students use many science and math skills such as observing, predicting, data collecting, recording, graphing, analyzing and drawing conclusions.

The CSEO offers Outdoor Science Investigations Field Trips for every season of the school year and can customize content length and location of field trips for your classes needs. For More information and sample lesson plans for our seasonal offerings please select a season below:
