Michigan Tech Volunteer Expo November 30, 2023

Volunteer Expo is happening today (Nov. 30) from 4-6 p.m. in the MUB Commons (the location has changed)! Stop by to find your next meaningful adventure.

Twenty-five organizations from the region will showcase service and philanthropy opportunities at the expo. Whether you want to help kiddos, elders, fuzzy critters, green spaces or voters, there is an adventure for you.

This event is open to the public, so feel free to bring friends and family.

Michigan Tech Summer Youth Programs Hiring for 2024

Are you looking for a summer job where you can spend your summer here in Houghton and build professional skills while making an impact on the next generation of doers and makers? If so, Summer Youth Programs (SYP) is the place for you.

This coming summer, we’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our team of counselors as we host nearly a thousand middle and high school students from around the world. During the day, our students spend time in Michigan Tech classrooms and labs doing hands-on activities to spark curiosity. In the evenings, awesome students just like you join our participants as they explore the Keweenaw.

Michigan Tech DOE Fellowship Application Writing Support

The Graduate School is excited to announce that it is offering application writing support to graduate students who wish to apply for the U.S. Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF).  

Eligibility: This prestigious fellowship is open to senior undergraduates and master’s degree students who intend to pursue a Ph.D. as well as first-year Ph.D. students; U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.  

A wide range of fields are eligible, including aeronautics, applied mathematics, astrophysics, biological sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, environmental science, materials sciences, mechanical engineering, physics, and statistics.

The benefits include yearly stipends of $45,000, payment of full tuition and required fees, one 12-week practicum experience at a DOE national laboratory or site, and more.

The submission deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024.
