Application & Criteria
Applications for a scholarship through the Myers-Greene Family STEM Scholarship Fund will open in February 2026, and will be accepted through March 31, 2026. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified no later than July 1.

Applicant Criteria

  • Woman pursuing a STEM education via an accredited university, vocational or trade school
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Dedication to service and academics

Applicant Materials

  • Transcript and/or acceptance letter to an accredited University, Vocational or Trade School
  • Written statement noting:
  • key academic and extracurricular achievements
  • commitment to service
  • how your education could be applied to a role in the chemical industry

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summer or Semester Positions Available

Helping Blaster-In-Charge to:

Load blast pattern Safely execute controlled detonations within surface mining applications. Pack required materials in accordance to blast pattern

Create blast patterns based off of geological patterns using drones, GPS, and 3D modeling Ensure all operations adhere to local, state, and environmental regulations

QUALIFICATIONS–

Currently enrolled in a Bachelors Program in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field is preferred but not required. Basic computer, GPS, and drone knowledge (or willing to learn)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Design, plan, and oversee controlled detonations within surface mining applications.

Analyze geological data to create blast patterns, ensure regulatory compliance, minimize environmental impact (vibration/noise), and optimize rock fragmentation

Supervise loading and firing of explosives, ensuring proper drilling and loading techniques are followed

Ensure all operations adhere to local, state, and environmental regulations

Analyze post blast results to improve efficiency and reduce costs

Maintain detailed records of blast designs, audits, and performance metrics

QUALIFICATIONS–

Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field is preferred but not required. Basic computer, GPS, and drone knowledge (or willing to learn)
