Embark on an exciting career journey with the Ward Exploration program located near Robinson Nevada Mining Company in Ely NV.
This full-time, paid internship program runs from approximately June 2026 to August 2026, with start and end dates tailored to align with your schedule and our business needs. As an intern, you’ll work 40 hours per week, gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a professional environment while contributing to geology exploration.
Key Job Functions:
· Field mapping 20%
· Rock and soil sampling 20%
· Core processing, logging, and photographing 30%
· Geologic modeling 10%
· Safety meetings and drilling reports 10%
· Other duties as assigned 10%
Decision Making and Authority:
• Collect geologic information from the surface or drill core for incorporation into model
• Assist with making decisions in the drilling program
• Coordinate with drilling and earthworks contractors to ensure a successful and safe drilling program
• Coordinate with sampling and geophysics contractors to ensure successful and safe data collection
Previous Related Work Experience Required:
• Internship preferred
Education Required:
• Junior/Senior level Geology student
Special Skills and/or Knowledge Required:
• Understanding and familiarity with mapping lithology and hydrothermal alteration
• Understanding and familiarity with porphyry copper systems and/or core logging is a plus
• Understanding and familiarity with rock and soil sampling is a plus
• Previous experience working around drill rigs is a plus
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Motivated and able to take on multiple projects/responsibilities at once
• Willing to take on roles within various facets of the Technical Services Department
• Able to effectively communicate clearly with immediate co-workers, management, and contractors
• Eager to produce quality deliverables
• Respectful of co-workers, contractors, and the company culture
• Vigilant of Environmental, Health, and Safety procedures and expectations of Robinson Nevada Mining Company, KGHM, MSHA and all governing agencies
Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge Required:
• Previous exposure or proficiency in Leapfrog Geo, ArcGIS/QGIS, ioGas, Datamine or other geology database software, or Python is a plus
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
