Scholarship: Husky PAWS – Apply by April 3

Dear STEM Students,

We want to share an exciting scholarship opportunity for Michigan Tech Pell-eligible students!  The S-STEM Husky PAWS (Pathways for Academic Wellness and Success) Scholarship Program awards one-year finishing scholarships for Pell students (Consult the Financial Aid Office, determined by the Federal Pell Grant program), majoring in the Colleges of Engineering and Computing, or in Physics/Applied Physics, who are completing their bachelor’s degrees or accelerated master’s degrees. This scholarship is awarded for one year, up to $15,000 for bachelor’s and $20,000 for master’s degree students. All applicants must reach senior standing (90+ credits) by the end of Spring 2026 and must have a plan filed with their academic advisor to graduate with their BS by December 2027. Accelerated MS students must also attain 90+ credits, but do not have a graduation timing restriction.

The Husky PAWS program has three goals:

  • To elevate each student’s assets, which include the unique and valuable skills, knowledge, and resiliency derived from their familial and community experiences.
  • To foster a sense of belonging.
  • To increase retention and graduation rates for STEM students who have demonstrated financial need.

These scholarships are made possible through funding from the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) program, which seeks to support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of academically talented low-income students.  https://www.mtu.edu/finaid/students/prospective/husky-paws/  (NOTE: Apply for the Finishing Fellowship with the Google Form below; do not follow the embedded link on the webpage.)

To apply for an S-STEM Finishing Fellowship, complete this Google Form. This application is due April 3rd at 11:59 pm.

In addition to the financial scholarship support, Husky PAWS includes professional development programming throughout the academic year to support students’ graduation and career success.
