Join our dynamic Engineering & Geology Development Program, designed to cultivate the next generation of mining professionals. Over the course of two years, participants will gain hands-on experience through three immersive rotations at our mine site, working alongside experienced metallurgical/mine engineers, geologists, and operations teams.

This program is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with 1-2 years of work experience seeking to build a strong foundation in mining operations, geological analysis, and/or technical project execution.

The Day to Day:

During the program, participants will be assigned to a specific functional area: Process/ Metallurgy, Geology, or Mine Operations/ Technical Services. Participants will then rotate through 3 different parts of the business for a well-rounded understanding of SSR Mining and the industry as a whole.

A Project Engineer/Project Manager will be accountable for managing the financial and construction oversight of various capital projects supporting the business. The job will include multiple scopes of work, to include but not limited to: earthen embankments for clay settling areas, overflow structures, creek crossings, sand filter treatment systems, dragline crossings, utility corridors, and other geotechnical and water conveyance systems, and/or mine expansions and/or gypsum stacks/RCRA projects from initiation to completion. 

In this role, you’ll collaborate with Geotech engineering groups, environmental groups, and SMEs across Mosaic while procuring services of outside engineering firms to assist in project design and construction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Project execution and management (including scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, contractor management, etc.)

Are You Our Next Engineer?

The Engineer I provides technical support primarily to plant operations groups and responsible for front-end engineering development of capital projects.  Serves as an active contributor to Mosaic cross-site and/or cross-functional assignments and initiatives.  Frequently assigned to high-profile projects, support assignments, and initiatives.

What Will You Do?

  • Provide plant process engineering support to the operations group, including plant optimization, troubleshooting, efficiency improvement, problem solving, and problem prevention.
  • Leverage ideas and assistance including resources across plant sites.
  • Plan and identify business objectives by evaluating viable options, preliminary design development, and preliminary economic and risk mitigation evaluation.
  • Provide commission and start-up support for assigned projects.
  • Support current business initiatives, such as specific problem-solving projects or improvement activities involving multiple sites.
  • Ensure site safety and environmental standards are being followed through safety audits, risk assessments, and housekeeping tours.
  • Report any issues that can impact the environment or the safety of the employees.

 Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, Industrial, Civil)
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, PI/OSISoft products or similar data historian, added benefit if the experience is with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project/Primavera (or similar software) experience.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities, and team building.
  • Manage and control project costs and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly.
  • Providing coordination between design, procurement, and/or construction for integration of technical content and schedule activities

Engineer I

  • 0-2 years of related experience in engineering, industrial project experience, or engineering project management

Bonus Points if You Have the Following:

  • SAP/Maximo application experience
  • Industrial chemical plant or mining facility project management experience
