Barrick Gold Corporation is looking for a Geologist I,II or III to be part of the multi-disciplinary Mineral Resource Management project team at the exciting Fourmile Project in the Cortez District of Nevada.

As a Geologist and a part of the Barrick Fourmile project team, the successful candidate will support the development of Fourmile through execution of exploration & resource delineation programs to identify new and define economic ore zones to deliver as part of PFS and FS studies.  

The ideal candidate will have a background in geology with experience in mining and/or exploration preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in core logging, geologic mapping, and exposure to mining and exploration software packages such as Acquire, Leapfrog Geo, Maptek Vulcan, or Deswik.

Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver on our journey to a zero harm workplace through stop work authority, participation in safety programs and identification of hazards and their mitigation.
  • Build ore body knowledge from observations made during core logging, cross section interpretation and input to geologic model updates. 
  • Assist with planning of core and directional drillholes and ensure progress is tracked. Intervene as required to achieve targets. 
  • Maintenance of drill schedule, drill pad construction & logistical coordination with a multi-disciplinary team of geologists, engineers, core technicians, and drill services business partners
  • Logging data collection & QAQC of returned results to ensure data integrity and targets are met
  • Weekly drill program reporting on project status, budget & geologic insights
  • Supporting core logging team with peer reviews and logging assistance. 
  • Aid in interpretation, generation, and refinement of geologic and resource models for the area of interest
  • Assist with geological and numerical modeling projects in Leapfrog Geo as directed 
  • Provide geological interpretation and support to other team members and project decisions
  • Participate in professional development training to expand skillset and provide fit for purpose solutions to the project
  • Perform other duties as required

     

Qualifications

 

  • Excellent demonstrated safety record required
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology or closely related field required
  • Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Previous mining or exploration experience required preferred
  • Previous core logging or mapping experience required 
  • Familiarity with mining and exploration software (Acquire, Leapfrog Geo, Maptek Vulcan, or Deswik) preferred
  • Ability to interpret geologic cross sections inclusive of lithologic, structural, alteration and mineralization to identify & communicate the “so what” implications preferred

  • Middle Georgia Data Visualization: The intern will contribute to a data visualization project focused on a key site in Middle Georgia.
