The Institute of Computing and Cybersystems has announced that Dr. Chee-wooi Ten (ECE) has been appointed director of the ICC’s Center for Physical Systems (CPS). Dr. Ye (Sarah) Sun (ME-EM) has served as director of the CyberS Center since it’s founding in 2015. Dr. Sun is on sabbatical.
“Dr. Ten has been instrumental in building collaborations at Michigan Tech and beyond in the areas of power systems security and engineering,” says Dr. Tim Havens, Dave House Associate Professor of Computing and director of the ICC. “I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Chee-wooi as director of the ICC’s Cyber-Physical Systems Center.”
Dr. Ten’s broad knowledge of the cyber-physical area of research and many successes in securing external funding, as well his experience building teams to solve big, difficult problems, prepare him to lead strategic activities and further the successes of the ICC and CyberS members, adds Dr. Havens.
“I would like to thank Dr. Ye Sun for leading the ICC CyberS Center in our ever-changing research landscape,” says Dr. Havens. “Cyber-physical systems continues to grow in prominence as everything, from automobiles to thermostats to sauce pans, are connected to the internet, and the ICC’s CyberS research portfolio reflects this,”
“I wish Sarah success on her upcoming sabbatical. She has done a phenomenal job leading the CyberS Center. I look forward to working with her upon her return to campus as we continue build Michigan Tech’s visibility in cyber-physical systems research.”
