The MTU RedTeam has set more records in Fall 2021 National Cyber League (NCL) competitions.
In the NCL fall individual games, October 22 to 24, three RedTeam players ranked in the top 100, out of 6,475 Individual players. They are Josh Stiebel, who ranks 15th, besting a RedTeam record set a Fall 2017, and Ryan Klemm (18th) and Stu Kernstock (65th).
In the fall NCL team competition, November 5 to 7, the RedTeam’s primary competitive team, RedTeam@MTU, was ranked 10th out of 3,916 teams from hundreds of universities across the U.S. The team members were Stu Kernstock, Matthew Chau, Sankalp Shastry, Ryan Klemm, Josh Stiebel, Thad Sander, and Tayler Wilczynski.
Twenty-nine Michigan Tech students competed in the fall 2021 NCL Cyber Competitions. Professors Yu Cai (AC) and Bo Chen (CS) are co-advisors of the MTU RedTeam.
The National Cyber League (NCL) is an inclusive, performance-based, learning-centered collegiate cybersecurity competition. The NCL competitions, powered by Cyber Skyline, enable students to prepare and test themselves against practical cybersecurity challenges that they will likely face in the workforce, such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting, and auditing vulnerable websites, and recovering from ransomware attacks. The NCL competitions are open to U.S. high school and college students.
