Starting this weekend, Michigan Tech Athletics will offer free bus service for students to the MacInnes Student Ice Arena on hockey game nights.
The MAC isn't the easiest place for you to get on cold, slippery winter days with the long hike up the hill. So for the rest of the season, the Huskies are providing some wheels!
Starting one hour before each game, bus service will run every 20
minutes with stops at Wadsworth Hall main parking lot, behind DHH (Cliff Drive side of DHH), and drop off at the Student Entrance at the SDC near Portage Health. The bus will run this cycle three times during the hour before each game.
Times are approximations based on weather and traffic:December 13 & 14; January 24 & 25; February 7, 14 & 15, & 21 all from 6-7 PM

Ultrarunner and inspirational speaker, Ray Zahab, is coming to campus!
Ray has been featured on CNN, CBC, National Geographic, and TED Talks. Ray went from being a pack-a-day smoker to running across the Sahara Desert in 111 days. The movie, “Running the Sahara,” directed by Matt Damon, was made about this expedition. In addition to this, Ray has completed numerous other expeditions including running to the South Pole, running across the Gobi desert, running across Baffin Island, running through the Amazon, and more. Furthermore, Ray is involved in education through his nonprofit, “impossible2Possible.” This program selects youth, aged between 17 and 21, to travel abroad and run a marathon or more a day while carrying out an educational project and connecting with thousands of students across the world. STANDATHON 2011: Standathon 2011 will be held on Friday, April 1 from 7:00 pm – 7:00 am in the SDC. Some of the activities at Standathon this year include sumo wrestling, an inflatable obstacle course, black light mini golf, laser tag, live bands, dance lessons, karaoke, water polo, kayak lessons, MTU’s Got Talent Show and so much more! There will be awesome food and prizes! The grand prize this year is an Xbox Kinect.
The best part about Standathon is that every dollar raised is donated directly to Bay Cliff Health Camp, a camp for children and adults with disabilities. This year marks the five-year anniversary of Standathon and we hope to make it the best one yet by setting a goal to raise $7,000! INPUT NEEDED FOR DISTINGUISHED TEACHING AWARDS: The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Development seeks input for its annual Distinguished Teaching Awards, which recognize outstanding contribution to the instructional mission of the university. Based on over 51,000 student ratings of instruction forms, eleven finalists have been identified for the 2011 awards. The selection committee is soliciting comments from students, staff, faculty, and alumni to aid in its deliberation process. Here are the finalists for the two awards:
