Specimen Prep in Electron Optics
Please do not electropolish on the weekend alone. Also, if you only occasionally use it please do the work during the week in case there is a problem. We want to avoid equipment breakage.
Also, the LN2 pump gets condensation in it and freezes. If it is working right the hose black hose will freeze and the temp will go down pretty quickly. Turn off the pump and come get me to help if the pump isn’t turning.
Both cordless drills are missing from the tool chest and no one has signed them out in the logbook. Please return right away – someone else needs to use one.
Danielle got the ion mill back online. Ready to use.

We have removed all of the paper logs from Sample Prep Room 637.
You will now need to record instrument and liquid nitrogen use in the Computer on the table when you come in. There are instructions on how to use the computer log next to the keyboard.
The following needs the use to be logged:
All Instruments (except Liquid Nitrogen), must be both Logged In AND Logged Out. Forgetting to logout of the instrument can cause issues with the program.

We will be making the final switch to using the Computer Log System in the Sample Prep Room 637 by this Friday (Feb 22nd 2019).

We have installed a new computer logging system in the Sample Prep room (637) to track liquid nitrogen, and all other coating, ion milling and electropolishing equipment. It is easy to use. Danielle is adding names and account indexes so you won’t have to do that. We will write instructions to use it and you can always call us for help.
Please use the paper logbook too while we are testing the new system out.
