Last day to add/drop fall classes

The last day to add/drop Track A courses without instructor approval is today, September 8. Beginning Monday, students will need the green late add/closed section form signed and brought to the Registrar’s office to have the course added.

Full semester courses can be dropped on Banweb through Wednesday, September 13, 5:00PM.

Michigan Tech Engineering Ambassadors Program

Do you want to be a part of outreach to middle and high schoolers to teach about engineering?

Do you want to grow in your professional communication skills?

If yes… then you should check out Michigan Tech’s Engineering Ambassadors Program! Open to all Engineering majors. Join a group of students who present on an engineering topic and conduct a hands on activity at local schools to excite students about engineering!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday September 12 at 5 PM in Fisher 125. Snacks will be provided!

Attached is the ACEC/Michigan scholarship application for the 2017-18 school year. The deadline to apply for this opportunity is January 5, 2018. The application is also available on the ACEC/M website.

ACEC (American Council for Engineering Companies) is a professional engineering organization that provides membership and representation to engineering firms and their employees. Our chapter represents over 100 firms from all over the State of Michigan.

This scholarship is open to students who have worked for a consulting engineering, surveying, or architectural/engineering firm within the past 24 months. Criteria is based on GPA, work experience, school and work references and community activity. Applicants must also write an essay answering the question provided.

Last year, we awarded $15,000 in scholarship money. Further details, including contact information, are outlined in the attached application.

Scholarship: Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association

The Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association is pleased to announce that it will award at least two student scholarships in 2017.

One Engineering Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2,000.
– The award is open to undergraduate students studying civil engineering or construction engineering enrolled at an accredited Wisconsin university or Michigan Technological University as of fall 2017.
– Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry (with an interest in asphalt pavements).
– Special consideration will be given to Wisconsin residents with sophomore or junior status as of the 2017-18 academic year.
One Engineering Technical Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.
– The award is open to engineering technology students enrolled at a Wisconsin technical college as of fall 2017.
– Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry (with an interest in asphalt pavements).

A successful candidate will have knowledge of LRFD bridge design criteria and concrete design practices. Additionally, a successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in Construction Engineering and Inspections services on some of the most significant bridge projects in the United States of America. Scholarship: AGC Education and Research Foundation Scholarship

AGC Education & Research Foundation Scholarship Application is Now Open To Students Dedicated to Pursuing Careers in the Construction Industry 

Each year the AGC Education and Research Foundation offers undergraduate and graduate level scholarships to students enrolled in ABET or ACCE accredited construction management or construction related engineering programs. The application opened July 1, 2017 and closes November 1, 2017.

Over $10 million in scholarships have been awarded to more than 4,000 students attending colleges and universities across the country. Through endowments made by AGC members and supporters, as well as AGC Chapters, the Education and Research Foundation awards over 150 scholarships each year to students dedicated to pursuing a career in the construction industry.

Scholarship: 2017 WTBA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Now Accepting Scholarship Applications!
 
The Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association (WTBA) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for its 2017 Scholarship Program.  WTBA offers $750 scholarships to students pursuing careers as engineering technicians, diesel mechanics or other related jobs through programs at state technical colleges.  WTBA offers $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing careers as physical/structural engineers, construction management or other related jobs through programs at 4-year universities and colleges.
We ask that you please help publicize the availability of these scholarships in your interactions with students or by posting the applications on engineering-related bulletin boards/chapters at your schools.  The applications are also available on WTBA’s website at www.wtba.org.
This year’s application deadline is October 27, 2017.

Scholarship: ACAA Educational Foundation

The ACAA Educational Foundation 2017-2018 Scholarship Program is open and accepting applications from students interested in promoting the beneficial use and management of coal combustion products.

Scholarship applications are due October 23, 2017. Scholarship application materials and instructions can be found on the ACAA website at: www.acaa-usa.org/About-ACAA/Educational-Foundation.

Eligibility: Candidates enrolled full-time and completing studies for an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited academic institution in the United States may apply for an award.  Candidates in all majors are encouraged to apply.  To receive consideration for a scholarship, the applicant should submit only one application.
