MS2 is looking for Technical Consultants to help create innovative software and data analytics for transportation planning and traffic engineering. We are a national leader in cloud-based software for transportation data management. Our clients include more than 250 transportation agencies in 28 states.

An MS2 Technical Consultant is a subject matter expert for GIS, transportation planning, or traffic engineering. The Technical Consultant will be responsible for concurrent projects and is expected to actively work with our clients.

The position is open to senior or entry level professionals. The position title and compensation package will be based on the candidate’s experience (e.g. Senior Transportation Engineer). Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to relate to clients and staff in a professional, thoughtful, and pleasant manner. Candidate must be able to effectively and professionally represent MS2 at meetings or other public forums. Being an active member of a professional organization is a plus. Candidate must be flexible to do assignments as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with the industry trends in transportation data management
  • Conduct methodology research to help guide new software features or solutions
  • Work with clients to identify business needs and system requirements
  • Develop solution concepts based on an understanding of the client needs
  • Recommend improvements to clients as required
  • Prepare proposals and make presentations to clients
  • Develop costs and time schedules for proposed work
  • Manage projects, develop project plans, and monitor performance
  • Maintain and nurture good client relationships
  • Help determine needs and cultivate leads in existing or new markets
  • Attend professional conferences to represent MS2
  • Some travel required

Required Education and Experience

  • B.S. degree in science, engineering, or related field
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Job Posting: MDOT (Transportation Engineer – Bridges)

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer, located in Lansing, Michigan.

This position is open to all applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or those who will obtain a civil engineering degree within the next 6 months.

Internships are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology.  We are looking for someone that is in the civil engineering-surveyor program that is interested in a summer job while in college with the intention of making this a career upon graduation.

 

We are seeking students with the following qualifications:

Current undergraduate student working towards a degree in a civil engineering field, surveying or construction management

Must be flexible with schedule

Familiarity with CAD integrated software (Agtek, Heavy Bid etc..)

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Possess excellent work ethic and exude positive attitude

Great organization and prioritization abilities

Must be willing to work outside in good and inclement weather

Good driving record and valid driver’s license

Previous work experience is a plus

Ability to prioritize work & meet project deadlines

 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

The Intern position has more flexibility with part-time or full-time, but 12 weeks is preferred. Interns will learn about multiple career paths in our company, and will be trained to become a full-time employee after college graduation. Some duties and responsibilities include:

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer, located in Lansing, Michigan.

This position will function at the entry/intermediate/experienced level in the Pavement Management Section completing assisting with various assignments.  This position will investigate pavement construction information and review performance of existing pavements.  Download and organize pavement performance data.  Assist with life-cycle cost analysis and pavement performance curve development.  Gather construction materials data and organize for use with the mechanistic-empirical (ME) pavement design method.  Assist with field reviews of projects in the Pavement Demonstration Program.  Assist with analysis of data and writing of the annual report for the Pavement Demonstration Program.  Assist with oversight of the Pavement Historical Database (PHD).  This position will work with the Pavement Selection Engineer and Departmental Analyst to gather, enter and organize project construction data and pavement performance data for life-cycle cost analysis.  This position will work with the Pavement Design Program Engineer and Pavement Design Engineer to gather and organize data for use with the mechanistic-empirical pavement design method, and the annual review and reporting of pavement demonstration project performance.  This position will assist the Pavement Design Engineer with administration of the Pavement Historical Database including assisting with enhancements/improvements being implemented.  This position will work with the Pavement Evaluation Unit on collection of pavement data, operation of data collection vehicles/equipment, laboratory testing, and maintenance of equipment.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering or in civil and environmental engineering.

Scholarship: REMINDER Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) Senior Undergraduate Scholarship

Just a reminder, the deadline below is quickly approaching. 

Title: Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) Senior Undergraduate Scholarship

Deadline: March 29, 2019

Scholarships will be awarded for the 2019/2020 school year and have ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 in recent years. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level (during the 2019/2020 school year) in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams.

Undergraduate students planning to graduate in May/December 2020 will be eligible for the 2019 scholarship.

Minimum Criteria – Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor.

Basis for Award – The basis for selection will generally follow these guidelines:

o Work Experience/Activities

o Essay
