Scholarship: ITE (Great Lakes District)

The Great Lakes District of the Institute of Transportation of Engineers is proud to offer a scholarship of $1,000 to an Undergraduate Student. The competition is open to all undergraduate students who are enrolled full time in Civil Engineering or a transportation-related field at universities and colleges located in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Scholarship winner will also receive free meeting registration to the 2023 Great Lakes Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids, MI. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward exceptional students who have expressed an interest in the transportation industry.  

The scholarships will be evaluated on the following four criteria:

  1. Academic Achievement/Publications (0-5 points)
  2. Academic Achievement/Publications (0-5 points)
  3. Career Goals and Objectives (0-10 points)
  4. ITE Involvement (0-5 points)

The deadline for submittal is November 4th, 2022. Scholarship winners may be required to submit a personal blurb or interview to be featured in the Great Lakes ITE Newsletter. Eligible applicants are students that have participated in a program at any point during the year prior to November 2022.

Info Session: NGA internship virtual recruiting event (Sept. 21st )

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is offering a virtual presentation that will focus on geoscience-related employment and internship opportunities at NGA.  Employees from the NGA Office of Geomatics will speak about the work they do, to help students better gauge their interest in employment at our Agency.

Scholarship: ACEC/Michigan

Below is the ACEC/Michigan scholarship application for the 2022-2023 school year. The deadline to apply for this opportunity is January 6, 2023. The application is also available on the ACEC/M website.

ACEC (American Council for Engineering Companies) is a professional engineering organization that provides membership and representation to engineering firms and their employees. Our chapter represents over 100 firms from all over the State of Michigan.

This scholarship is open to students who have worked for a consulting engineering, surveying, or architectural/engineering firm within the past 24 months. Criteria is based on GPA, work experience, school and work references and community activity. Applicants must also write an essay answering the question provided.

Last year, ACEC/Michigan awarded $20,000 in scholarship money to 7 students.

Scholarship: SmithGroup J.E.D.I. Scholarship Applications

On Monday, October 3, 2022, SmithGroup will open applications for our 2023 Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (J.E.D.I.) Scholarship program. The scholarship’s mission is to provide students from historically underrepresented groups with opportunities to pursue their academic and professional goals while also working to create a more diverse and inclusive design industry.
 
Five scholarships are awarded annually that include $6,000 in tuition support and a paid summer internship at any one of SmithGroup’s office locations in the United States where the student’s discipline is available. Scholarships: Wisconsin Society of Land Surveying
