My name is Steven Brandner. I graduated from MTU in 2012 as an environmental engineer.
This week on campus is industry week and as a part of that various steel manufacturers will be holding a networking event on this Wednesday, Sept 20th.
If there are any environmental engineers who are interested in working with industry or want to learn more we will be having a panel discussion and I will be covering the environmental side of the business.
We will be holding the event in Dow 641 from 4:00-6:00.
I have attached a pamphlet for the event.
Please let me know if you have any questions, steven.brandner1@gerdau.com.
Thanks,
Steven Brandner

Steel Bridge Info Meeting (Wednesday, 9/13 @ 6 PM)
The Steel Bridge Team will be hosting an informational meeting for anybody interested in learning what Steel Bridge is all about this Wednesday (9/13/16) at 6:00 PM in Dillman 202. There will also be a RAM (design software) Tutorial that follows in Dillman 211 beginning around 7:00 PM.
Steel Bridge is a team of first years through graduate students interested in applying principles taught in coursework to real life situations. The team receives parameters at the beginning of the school year, designs the bridge and all its components, fabricates it on campus, and then competes with the bridge regionally and nationally. The purpose of the competition is to build a bridge that is light, stiff, and fast to build. This past year we had the opportunity to travel to Corvallis, Oregon to compete against 43 other schools from across the world at the national competition bringing home 12th place overall.
Most members join with little to no design or shop experience, but everything is taught throughout the year, including welding! We are looking for anyone interested in gaining valuable experience in design software, metal fabrication, problem solving, or team building skills. Companies like to see and talk about this experience, as it s a great way to improve your team work and leadership skills. We are open to every department, so bring your friends too! If you are unable to make it to the meeting at 6:00 PM, or the design tutorial at 7:00 PM and would like more information please feel free to email the Team Captain, Greg Naghtin, at ganaghti@mtu.edu. We hope to see you there!
Do you want to be a part of outreach to middle and high schoolers to teach about engineering?
Do you want to grow in your professional communication skills?
If yes… then you should check out Michigan Tech’s Engineering Ambassadors Program! Open to all Engineering majors. Join a group of students who present on an engineering topic and conduct a hands on activity at local schools to excite students about engineering!
Our first meeting will be Tuesday September 12 at 5 PM in Fisher 125. Snacks will be provided!
Contact advisor Jaclyn Johnson at jenesbit@mtu.edu to be added to the email list, and with any questions, or stop by our booth at K-day.
We are looking forward to seeing you Tuesday!
