Scholarship: Summit Shah Scholarship

Dr. Summit Shah has founded the Summit Shah Scholarship in reacting to the rising tuition costs. He has been a tireless advocate of access to higher education and has founded the Summit Shah Scholarship to ensure that deserving students from all parts of the economic spectrum can reach their academic goals. We would like to offer a $1000 scholarship offer for your students at to be applied to their higher learning education.

Who Is Eligible?

Eligibility parameters are as follows:

  • High school students graduating this calendar year and have been accepted into a college, university, trade school, or design school are eligible to apply
  • Students currently enrolled in a college, university, trade school, or design school
  • All majors and areas of studies are encouraged to apply

Essay Question:

The lessons we learn from failure are usually fundamental to later successes. To be considered for the scholarship, please submit a short essay (500 words or less) recounting an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn?

Scholarship: ASSE Foundation

Applications for the ASSE Foundation’s 2018 Scholarship and Grant Program are being accepted until December 1 at 11:59pm EST! Be sure that all applications are turned in before the due date to be considered for an award.

This coming year more than $350,000 will be available to members of the safety community, including multiple Impact Scholarships of $10,000 or more in value.

Scholarship: MN Erosion Control 2018 Scholarship

MECA Memorial Scholarship Applications are now being accepted!  Please forward to students that may qualify!

QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible for the MECA Scholarship, one must be a student with intent to complete an engineering or science degree.  They should also demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career involving stormwater management or erosion and sediment control.  They must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above and be a Minnesota resident. The college they attend does not have to be located within the state of Minnesota. Both new college students and those currently enrolled are encouraged to apply.  MECA awards one $500 scholarship per year.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Fill out the Scholarship Application form (go to www.mnerosion.org to download the form).  Submit an essay.  Student needs to write an essay stating why they feel they deserve to receive the MECA Scholarship.  Please indicate objectives, and information about educational, career, and personal goals.  Demonstrate talent by writing about any special interests or special circumstances that the selection committee may consider.  Include information on evidence of leadership and community service.  Essay format:  One page, 11 point font size with 1” margins. Use name and essay name as the title.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION  Once awarded, proof of school registration for the upcoming semester is required before release of the scholarship check. The student must furnish any other applicable transcripts for the Scholarship Committee to consider. All applicants will be notified, by letter, of their eligibility and the results of their applications. The scholarship winner will be invited to attend the Minnesota Erosion Control Association’s annual conference in January.

Scholarship: West Michigan Air & Waste Management

On behalf of the West Michigan Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association, I am pleased to announce our chapter is now accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded in January 2018.  The WM-AWMA plans to award up to four individual scholarships of $2,000.00 to juniors, seniors and graduate students in qualifying fields of study.  Specific eligibility requirements are described in the attached announcement.

The deadline for submitting applications is midnight on Sunday, November 26, 2017.

Scholarship – WTS Michigan

WTS is an international organization dedicated to the advancement of women in the transportation industry.  The WTS Foundation (WTSF) was formed in 2009 to provide scholarships to support the next generation of transportation professionals in our mission.

The local WTS Michigan Chapter is supporting three scholarships for deserving women in Michigan all of which have been doubled in amount again this year!  Two undergraduate scholarships at $1,000 each and one graduate scholarship at $2,000.  The women that win at the local level are automatically entered at the International level for their chance at scholarships totaling $5,000 and $10,000 respectively.

The applications are due on November 13th, 2017.  The applications are attached.

Scholarship: ACEC/Michigan

ACEC/M Scholarships
Application Deadline is January 5, 2018

ACEC/Michigan is planning to award over $12,000 to engineering and surveying students enrolled in an ABET accredited College or University. Applications are now available on the ACEC/M website, and are due to ACEC by January 5, 2018. Applicants will be judged on a written essay, their work experience, employer/faculty recommendations, community involvement and their GPA.

2018 CISC Scholarship Competition

The Association of Cuban American Engineers (ACAE) and the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (C-AACE) are glad to announce the 2018 Cuba Infrastructure Scholarship Competition

It gives us great pleasure to invite all engineering students from ABET accredited programs to participate in this year’s scholarship competition. Participants will get the chance to win a scholarship of up to $6,000 and the opportunity to network with engineering professionals from both public and private industry sectors. Please distribute the attached information to engineering faculty and students.

The Cuba Infrastructure Scholarship Competition entails that university student teams formulate and present a project of their choice on Cuba’s public infrastructure that relates to the engineering field in transportation, water resources, power, telecommunications, healthcare or agriculture.

Scholarship: ACEC/Michigan

Attached is the ACEC/Michigan scholarship application for the 2017-18 school year. The deadline to apply for this opportunity is January 5, 2018. The application is also available on the ACEC/M website.

ACEC (American Council for Engineering Companies) is a professional engineering organization that provides membership and representation to engineering firms and their employees. Our chapter represents over 100 firms from all over the State of Michigan.

This scholarship is open to students who have worked for a consulting engineering, surveying, or architectural/engineering firm within the past 24 months. Criteria is based on GPA, work experience, school and work references and community activity. Applicants must also write an essay answering the question provided.

Last year, we awarded $15,000 in scholarship money. Further details, including contact information, are outlined in the attached application.
