SENSE stands for Strategic Education Through Naval Systems Experiences, and we are advised by Dr. Timothy Havens and Dr. Tania Demonte Gonzalez. The goal of our enterprise is to provide students with hands-on experiences in naval application projects, explore interests and careers within the Department of Defense, and enhance their teamwork and communication skills.

Scholarship: Women in Chemicals Scholarship

Women in Chemicals Scholarship

The Women in Chemicals scholarship program is designed to encourage the advancement of women in STEM, and to promote careers in the chemical industry.

Through the Myers-Greene Family STEM Scholarship Fund, Women in Chemicals will award an annual scholarship in the amount of $10,000 to one woman pursuing a post secondary education in STEM through an accredited university, vocational or trade school.

The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2026 and the recipient will be honored at the 2026 Women in Chemicals Conference on September 14-16.

Scholarship – National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is a non-profit
association of women actively employed in the many facets of the construction
industry, with more than 6,000 members in chapters throughout the United
States.


Each year NAWIC Grand Rapids #194, in an effort to promote excellence in
all aspects of the construction industry, is proud to offer scholarships to
candidates pursuing a career in the construction industry.


All who possess a commitment to obtaining an education leading to a degree
through a course of study in construction are encouraged to review the
scholarship guidelines and eligibility requirements and submit their application
for consideration. Scholarship awards may be applied toward the cost of
tuition and/or course expenses as selected by the recipient. The applicant has
the ultimate responsibility to ensure the scholarship application is completed.
The dollar amount of scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $7,500. Your
assistance in finding eligible candidates is appreciated.

Scholarships (ASCE) – Mackinac Scholarship & Zuidema Scholarship

The ASCE Michigan Section annually awards scholarships to deserving college students pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering. Applications are due by Memorial Day each year. To be eligible, students must:

  • Be a Michigan resident and US Citizen at the time of application,
  • Be enrolled as a full time student (in good standing) at an ABET accredited college in a civil and/or environmental engineering program in the State of Michigan,
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 (out of 4.0) at the time of application.

Two scholarships are available, the Mackinac Scholarship ($10,000 total – $5,000 each year for 2 years) and the Zuidema Scholarship ($1,500). To apply, download the Scholarship Application and return it to the ASCE Michigan Section (information provided with application).

Looking for an internship?

We’re looking for civil engineering students for our Summer Aviation Experience. Join us to experience the world of aviation at various Delta offices from June through July, with an option to stay on board for some actual pilot training in August! We’re planning to take off the week after the 4th of July but otherwise give you the chance to see a project from design through bidding and construction, hone your CAD and Civil 3D skills, and get a taste of aviation, including the opportunity to fly!
