The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer 9/10/P11 (Design Engineer) – Bureau of Bridges & Structures.
The Bureau of Bridges and Structures (BOBS) serves as the statewide bridge authority for both MDOT owned bridges as well as local agency bridges, tasking every BOBS team member with efficient and innovative design, construction, and active preservation of our State of Michigan structural assets throughout the Great Lakes State.
This position provides engineering functions in the specialized area of bridge design and is responsible for designing and preparing preliminary and final plans, proposal material, and cost estimating for bridge construction projects or miscellaneous facilities utilizing standard design practices and computerized programs (Microstation, Open Bridge Modeler, Power GEOPAK, ProjectWise, AASHTOWARE). Work is performed under general guidelines.
Education
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

The Great Lakes Conservation Corps (GLCC) is hiring at least 24 seasonal employees for the 2020 summer field season. GLCC is a program that is administered by the Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP), which is located in Marquette, MI. GLCC crews will be working on projects that are primarily located in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, with some projects extending regionally. Crews are a team of four young adults who gain experience in a wide range of conservation and natural resource management projects. Crew Leaders and Crew Members partner with various project managers (state, tribal, federal and local partners) who specialize in botany, soils, recreation, forestry and wildlife. GLCC project examples include:
• coastal resiliency • trail construction
• historic preservation • natural disaster response and relief
• environmental monitoring • green infrastructure and construction
• data collection processes • native habitat restoration
• native planting • riparian restoration and mitigation
Additionally, GLCC is hiring 2 crews to complete a Lake Huron dam inventory using a drone and ArcGIS.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer 9-P11/12 – Grand Region – Assistant Construction Engineer.
At the 12 level: This position functions as the Assistant Construction Engineer within the Grand Rapids TSC responsible for construction administration tasks as well as other duties in the areas of maintenance administration, traffic and safety engineering, utility and permit right of way review, and design plan preparation. This position also assists the Construction Engineer in developing and delivering all aspects of the transportation product in the Grand Rapids TSC.
