Ten Michigan colleges and universities have been ranked as “Best Value Colleges” by financial tech company SmartAsset.
The ranking from the New York-based company is calculated through scholarships, starting salary, tuition, living costs, and retention rate metrics.
The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor ranked first on the list, bolstered its 97% retention rate, $19,325 in average scholarships and grants offered and median starting salary of about $70,000.
Michigan Technological University ranked next on the list, as the starting salary was near the top of all schools on the list at more than $71,000.
Michigan State University ranked third in the state with its 92% retention rate and living costs of about $17,000 a year near the bottom of all schools on the list.
Kettering University in Flint ranked fourth in the ranking, as the non-profit STEM university has the highest median starting salary in the ranking at about $75,000.
Ferris State University in Big Rapids rounded out the top-5, as its tuition and living costs were among the lowest in the ranking.
The remaining schools in the top-10 are Andrews University in Berrien Springs, University of Detroit Mercy, Kalamazoo College, Wayne State University in Detroit and Grand Valley State University in Allendale.
