As a Project Engineer with our client, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for all onsite engineering services required to construct underground structures such as shafts, tunnels, slopes, and other duties as assigned. The Project Engineer will work with the Corporate Engineering and Mining Departments as required.

The essential functions of the position are:

  • Quality Control – Ensuring that construction work complies with both project specifications and company standard
  • Document Control – Prepare and distribute all required documentation records including various cost, schedule and production reports
  • Surveying – Establish, maintain, and advance line and grade control for excavation and construction.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, as-built records, change orders, estimates, etc.
  • Field Reporting – Accurately complete daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements
  • Safety – Comply and promote the Company safety policies to ensure a safe workplace while also observing MSHA Federal and State standards

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Mining, Structural Engineering or Construction Management
  • 1 to 3 years of construction experience is required
  • Familiar with the use of surveying instruments; total station, rotation laser, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with AutoCAD
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with clients, management and production staff
  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles to solve construction engineering issues
  • Must be able to work underground in a challenging environment with exposure to heights

The Ore Control Geologist is a salaried exempt position and typically works an 8 on, 6 off, schedule offset from other personnel to provide up to 7 day/week coverage for this role. Responsible for production of mine site mapping and drawings, and design drawings. The position requires an intensive use of CAD (computer-aided drafting). Graphic design work is occasionally required. This position is responsible for providing ore control calculation and generating field survey maps in a timely and accurate manner. The position requires implementation of Blast Movement Monitoring technology including placement of Blast Movement Monitors in drill holes, post blast survey of monitor locations and drone survey of pre and post blast surfaces. This position will assist as requested by engineers in the completion of daily, month-end, annual, and other various mine production reports. 

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Development and implementation of blast hole/ore control programs that reconcile well with mine models.
  • Development and implementation of blast movement ore control programs in conjunction with operations personnel and engineers that result in improved mining compliance and delivery of ores to process.
  • Development and implementation of geotechnical monitoring programs.
  • Development and evaluation of resource models.
  • Pit mapping and data analysis for both mine modeling and geotechnical evaluation.
  • Monitors ground water management systems.
  • Blast monitoring with respect to geologic structures.
  • Monitoring and evaluating geological and assay data quality.
  • Resource and mine production reconciliation studies.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in open pit hard rock mining.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with various individuals, crews, departments and organizational levels. 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to assess risk in relation to occupational hazards and apply appropriate precautions and safeguards demonstrating a high level of safety leadership.
  • FAA Drone Certification or the ability to pass the certification within first year of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience using mine modeling software; MineSight preferred.

The Mining Engineer reports to the Senior Mining Engineer, and the primary role is for the safe design and implementation of Mine plans and systems as well as other engineering requirements within the Technical Service Team.

  • Tertiary qualification in Mine Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years underground mining experience

We are looking for a detail-oriented Mining Estimator to join our project team. You will be responsible for developing accurate, first-principles cost estimates for mining operations and construction projects. You will analyze geological data, labour requirements, equipment and scheduling needs to ensure our projects are financially viable and competitively bid.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation: Develop multi-discipline cost estimates (CapEx/OpEx) and construction schedules using first-principles calculations.
Bid Management: Review tender documents, perform quantity take-offs from drawings, and prepare detailed basis of estimate reports.
Planning: Establish site-specific criteria, including wage scales and person-hour productivity rates.
