Iron Oak Energy is looking for a dynamic Mine Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the team at its Tunnel City, WIlocation.  The Mine Supervisor will be responsible for executing mine plans and achieving production goals at the lowest possible cost consistent with quality and safety requirements.  Additionally, this role will work closely with the EHS supervisor to maintain sampling, inspection, and reporting schedules to meet compliance with state, local, and federal laws and all associated permit regulations, including WPDES, Air Permit, SWPPP, and SPCC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide short range mine planning in accordance with five-year plans from the Corporate Mine group.
  • Develop quarry faces consistent with mine plan and in conformance with MSHA requirements.
  • Supervises hourly personnel as needed in performing their daily work assignments.
  • Direct mine related production activities, including but not limited to:
    • Loading, Hauling, Sizing, Crushing, Stockpiling, Ore Shipment to Plant, Waste Management, Stripping, Mine Planning, Road Watering and Maintenance, Tailings Disposal and Reclamation
  • Maintain and ensure safety and good housekeeping. Maintain active involvement in safety programs. Oversee area workplace inspections and ensure follow up on any hazards noted.
  • Preforms survey and updates to mine progress and volumes using mine modeling software
  • Advise Management of problems or potential problems that affect the proper operation of the Mine. Problems may include personnel, equipment, transportation, quality or raw material.
  • Direct and coordinate capital projects for the mine.
  • Direct the activities of all outside mine related contractors including haulage, blasting, stripping and reclamation activities.
  • Monitor the operation, and work closely with the EHS supervisor, to ensure compliance with all regulations concerning air and water emissions, tailings disposal, land reclamation, erosion and sedimentation control. Which includes:
    • WPDES site compliance inspections and reporting
    • Air permit site compliance inspections and reporting
    • SWPPP site compliance inspections and reporting
    • SPCC site compliance inspections and reporting
  • Work with Corporate Environmental on reclamation plans and disturbance reporting
  • Work with the EHS supervisor to ensure training as required by environmental permits is complete
  • Ensure work standards, policies, plans, and procedures are maintained. Support management’s policies and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining, Engineering or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in short range mine planning or earth moving
  • CAD Modeling software experience (Vulcan preferred)
  • Experience in surveying
  • Experience maintaining government permitting and interacting with government agencies preferred
  • Experience with reclamation and stormwater management preferred 
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
