Position Overview

As a member of the aggregate production team, this position will be responsible for monitoring aggregate production and planning, including surveying, developing extraction methods for overseeing the drilling and blasting contractors.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Working with management in facilitating surveys, plans and development around our aggregate production. Using Drones and collaborating with the team to verify inventories on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborates and conducts with others geographical exploration by reviewing maps and drilling logs to determine location, size, accessibility and estimated volumes of deposits.
  • Works with aggregate production team to develop methods to extract material, evaluating factors such as safety, operational costs, deposit characteristics and overburden depth.
  • Assists in laying out and directing mine construction operations, such as location and development of ramps and positioning of mining area, access roads and blast layout.
  • Assists in applying CRH blasting fundamentals for blast design and work with on site contractors for drilling and blasting operations.
  • Assists in determining long-range planning designs and data to determine proof of financial justification.
  • Will work with the team to ensure company compliance with mandated safety and environmental policies on all mining/material production practices.
  • Will work with company management and State and Federal agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to detect safety hazards and respond accordingly.
  • Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors and/or Associate Degree in Mine Engineering; OR 3+ related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As a condition of this role you will be required to attain an FAA part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate enabling you fly drones at the operations . This will be used for quarry face profiles and inventory aggregates mapping.  

General Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to and from the job site.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer to communicate effectively.  This includes but is not limited to the use of Outlook, MS Office programs, construction software and web-based programs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, specifications, procedure and company manuals.

Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Mining Geotechnical Engineer, with strong written and verbal skills, to join our established and growing multi-national Mining Engineering Team. Role accountabilities:

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of geotechnical engineering experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER, MSHA training certification, and Professional engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, and geotechnical modeling software (e.g., GeoStudio, FLAC, PLAXIS).
  • Expertise in mine slope stability analysis, tailings dam design, and soft-ground mechanics.

  • Surpac to Leapfrog Data Migration: The primary objective is to assist in the migration of geological data from Surpac to Leapfrog. This includes transferring drillhole data, block models, and other relevant geological surfaces, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout the process.
  • Middle Georgia Data Visualization: The intern will contribute to a data visualization project focused on a key site in Middle Georgia. This will involve gathering, processing, and visualizing geospatial data to create maps and other visual aids that support project analysis and communication. The intern will use a combination of GIS software and data visualization tools to highlight important geographical and geological features of the area.
  • GIS Fundamentals and Site Mapping: The intern will learn and apply GIS basics to create and update site maps. This will involve using tools to represent geological features, infrastructure, and other key site components, providing a visual understanding of the project area.
  • QGIS Workshop and Application: The intern will attend a QGIS workshop to learn how to use this powerful open-source GIS software.

Purpose & Scope of The Position: 

Mine Engineer is responsible for long-term mine planning, assisting in developing metal plans, and providing technical guidance/support for the Mine Department and other Departments as required.

  • All RNMC employees are accountable for the safety of themselves as well as that of their coworkers.

  • Assist Mine Operations department to determine equipment requirements.

  • Present mine plans in front of various group sizes and backgrounds.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geologic Engineering or Civil Engineering. 
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 1-2 years of responsible mine engineering experience and/or Summer Intern open-pit mining operations. 
    • Mine Operations/Supervision experience would be beneficial.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.

 Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • A working knowledge of MineSight or other mine planning software package is preferred.
