Job Summary

Reporting to the Water Resources Manager, the Hydrogeologist is responsible for providing technical expertise and support related to groundwater and surface water management for NewRange Copper Nickel’s mining projects. This role supports study development, project execution, and field investigations through hydrogeologic analysis, water management planning, and regulatory alignment.

The Hydrogeologist contributes to the development of water management strategies, supports hydrogeologic modeling and analysis, and ensures that water-related risks, costs, and operational requirements are clearly understood and integrated into project planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities

Hydrogeologic Analysis & Technical Support

• Perform hydrogeologic assessments, including groundwater and surface water analysis, to support project studies and design.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret hydrogeologic data, including groundwater levels, flow systems, water quality, and hydrologic conditions.
• Support development and application of hydrogeologic and hydrologic models to evaluate site conditions and project scenarios.
• Support responsible water stewardship practices aligned with regulatory requirements and company commitments.
• Contribute to planning and design analyses, providing recommendations related to dewatering, water management, and closure strategies.

Water Management & Project Integration

• Support development of site-wide water management plans, including water balance, handling, storage, and reuse strategies.
• Collaborate with mine engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, permitting and operations teams to integrate water management into project design.
• Assist in evaluating impacts of mine design and operational activities on groundwater and surface water systems.
• Support identification of risks and opportunities related to water management, including cost, schedule, and operational impacts.

Modeling, Data Management & Reporting

• Support the development, calibration, and review of hydrogeologic models.
• Prepare technical reports, studies, and documentation related to groundwater basins, water systems, and project water strategies.
• Ensure hydro(geo)logic and water quality data are accurately collected, maintained, and applied to support project decisions.

Regulatory Compliance & Support

• Support compliance with applicable water management regulations, permits, and approvals.
• Assist in preparation of regulatory submissions and technical documentation.
• Provide technical input to support engagement with regulators and internal stakeholders.

Contract & Consultant Coordination

• Support scope development and technical review of consultant work related to hydrogeology and water management.
• Review technical deliverables to ensure alignment with project requirements, standards, and objectives.

Other Duties

• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in hydrogeology, preferably within mining or heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with groundwater and surface water systems, including water well design, hydraulic flow, and water balance concepts.
• Familiarity with hydrogeologic and hydrologic modeling techniques; experience developing or supporting models is preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to water management in mining environments.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports and studies for internal and external stakeholders.
• Professional designation in Minnesota State (e.g., P.G. or P.E.), or ability to acquire is considered an asset.

Job Summary

Imerys is seeking a site-based Junior Geologist to join our Willsboro, NY team. This role will support Ore QA/QC, active drilling campaigns, site-based geological data management, and short-term mine planning, while playing a critical role in environmental compliance and operational data support. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to both surface and underground operations, assisting in the transition of mining methods from Surface to underground and the maintenance of essential site systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ore Control: Provide in-pit grade control and laboratory QA/QC to ensure that ore shipments meet quality standards.
• Geological & Drilling Support: Support diamond drilling and blast hole sampling campaigns by assisting senior technical staff with logging core/cutting, contractor management, drillhole planning, database management, and sample preparation.
• Environmental Monitoring & Compliance: Monitor and assist with environmental compliance activities, including regulatory reporting and the collection/analysis of field data to ensure adherence to site permits and safety standards.

Additional Supporting Responsibilities:

• Reporting & Data Management: Prepare routine reports, geological maps, and tables using analytical data to support resource modeling, mine design, and reconciliation efforts.
• Field Operations: Conduct field activities including Blast hole survey, collection of ore cutting from blast hole drilling, field documentation, and oversight of drilling subcontractors as required.
• SAP & Inventory Support: Supports the development departmental budgets and tracks actual vs budgetary goals. Assist with the site accounting processes such as requisitions, inventory adjustments, and goods receipts.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Education: BS degree (preferably in Geological Engineering or Geology or related).
• Experience: 0–3 years of technical experience in a junior role; operations experience is highly preferred.

Technical Toolkit:

• Proficiency in, or aptitude to learn, geological modeling software such as Surpac, Leapfrog, and ArcGIS.
• Proficiency in Google sheets or MS Excel and 
• Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to establish positive relationships with a diverse workforce, including peers, superiors, and contractors.
• Certifications: Must be willing to obtain/maintain necessary safety certifications (e.g., MSHA) and comply with all site-specific Health and Safety Plans.

Physical Requirements

• Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions and operating within specialized protective equipment as necessary.
• This is a site-based role requiring a mix of office and field time, with some travel to project sites as required.

Compensation: $65,000 – 85,000 commensurate with experience

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to both the analytical and operational aspects of proficiency testing programs. You will work with a variety of materials—including asbestos, manmade mineral fibers, and environmental samples—while supporting laboratory processes from sample preparation through quality control and distribution. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to established procedures, and the ability to perform both independent and team-based laboratory tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the selection, safe handling, and preparation of bulk building materials and raw asbestos minerals for PT sample production
• Preparing and handling suspensions of asbestos and manmade mineral fibers, including aqueous deposition onto filters
• Performing routine bench chemistry tasks such as gravimetric sample reduction, aliquoting, and turbidity and pH analysis
• Conducting independent analyses using optical (light) microscopy in accordance with established analytical methods
• Supporting the generation of vapor-phase chemical samples collected on sorbent media
• Performing contamination checks and quality control sampling to verify the suitability of PT materials
• Assisting with sample preparation for analysis using microscopic, X-ray, and other analytical techniques
• Participating in PT sample packaging and shipment preparation for domestic and international program participants
• Following and contributing to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including drafting or revising documentation as needed
• Recording laboratory observations, performing basic calculations, and compiling data for evaluation and review
• Maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO, EPA, OECD GLPs)
• Assisting with laboratory inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies and equipment
• Supporting research activities and performing additional laboratory tasks as required
