The Van Pelt and Opie Library at Michigan Tech is now a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC). A PTRC is a library officially designated by the Department of Commerce’s US Patent and Trademark Office to freely provide to the University and independent people and businesses the best and most up-to-date databases and other tools, workshops, online guides and assistance with patent and trademark searching.
Services offered include by-appointment individual patent and trademark searching help with trained librarians, access to robust patent-searching databases available only onsite at PTRCs, patent- and trademark-searching workshops, and books and other helpful materials on the patent and/or trademark application process from beginning to end.
We would like to invite all interested individuals to join representatives from the US Patent and Trademark Office and University staff on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for a free series of workshops on patents, trademarks and other intellectual property issues. The day’s events will also include a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the official opening of the PTRC, followed by lunch for all attendees.
