Vladimir Tonchev Named Inaugural Igor Kliakhandler Fellow

Professor Vladimir Tonchev has been named the inaugural Igor Kliakhandler Fellow in the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Igor Kliakhandler, a former Michigan Tech faculty member, established the eponymous fellowship to stimulate research activity in the mathematical sciences. A portion of the funding will be used to hold a conference or workshop each year.

Tonchev to attend NATO ASI, Ohrid 2014

Professor Vladimir Tonchev will be a guest lecturer at the NATO Advanced Study Institute in Ohrid, Macedonia. The conference is being held August 25 – September 5, 2014.

The goal of this Advanced Study Institute is to provide training and expertise to mathematicians, computer scientists, and engineers from NATO and partner countries in the area of arithmetic of hyperelliptic curves in developing and maintaining crypto systems based on hyperelliptic cryptography.
