The 64th Annual Winter Carnival Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Finale will take place on Saturday, February 7th at Mont Ripley.
Are you a skier or snowboarder interested in being part of this iconic event? We’re looking for participants to help light up the hill!
Participant Requirements:
- Must be able to slowly and confidently ski or ride Racers Ridge
- LED lights and road flares will be used
- Must be at least 14 years old and accompanied by an adult
- Participation is limited to a maximum of 50 riders
Event Schedule:
- Meet at the Main Chalet: 7:45 PM
- Husky Chair loading begins: 8:10 PM
- Torchlight Parade starts: 8:30 PM (following a mandatory safety briefing)
- Fireworks Finale: Immediately following the parade
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a beloved Winter Carnival tradition—we hope you’ll join us for an unforgettable night on the hill!
Due to the forecasted extremely cold temperatures, the Ripley Kids, After School, and Michigan Tech P.E. Learn to Ski and Snowboard Programs will be postponed on the following dates:
- Thursday, January 22
- Friday, January 23
- Saturday, January 24
The safety and comfort of our participants, families, and staff are always our top priority, and these conditions fall below our operating thresholds for programming.
Ripley Kids and After School Programs will receive make- up lessons at the end of the regularly scheduled program.
Please also note the following operational updates:
- Thursday, January 22: Mont Ripley will operate on reduced hours from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- Friday, January 23: All of Michigan Tech including Mont Ripley will be CLOSED
- Saturday, January 24: Mont Ripley will operate from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, with T-Bar access only.
- No Tubing on Saturday.

Unfortunately, not our favorite pal, Blizzard T. Husky – the cold & dangerous kind!
So, in the interest of safety for our racers, guests, and staff, Mont Ripley has made the proactive decision to close on Monday, December 29th, due to the predicted blizzard conditions.
We will reopen at 9 am on Tuesday, December 30th as scheduled. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming everyone back once conditions improve.
