Due to the amount of snow we have been able to make, along with the wonderful winter weather we have been given so far, Mont Ripley will be opening for the season on Friday December 13. Our hours will consist of Mon – Fri 3 – 9 pm and Sat & Sun 10 – 5 pm for this coming week. Our hours of operation will then reflect our posted times. Come enjoy this season with us starting this Friday, and as always Think Snow!
We have been actively making snow around the clock here at Mont Ripley. With the combined efforts of Heikki Lunta and ourselves we will be opening up the ski area Saturday Dec. 7th and Sunday Dec. 8th from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The T-bar lift will be open allowing access to “That Road,” “Center Bowl” and “Toots Tumble.” We are in early season so our rates are $25.00 for lift ticket and $10 rental. We will again close Monday – Thursday as we continue making snow to open more lifts and runs for the following weekend.
We have been busy over the summer making improvements to Mont Ripley including hauling hundred of loads of dirt to fill in low spots on the hill. We completely disassembled the Husky Chair Lift for regular maintenance and are in the process of putting it back together. This is going to be a great ski and snowboard season!
To get back into things we have several events planned for this fall. Fall color tour chair lift rides begin Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and continue the following weekend. Friday, October 11, rides are available from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13 rides will be from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Cost of the ride is just $5 or $4 for Michigan Tech students.
The annual MRRT Ski Swap fundraiser at Mont Ripley is coming up the following weekend on October 19. Equipment drop off is that morning and the night before.
The Ski and Snowboard Club at Michigan Tech will be presenting the movie “Into the Mind” on October 11 at 9:00 pm for ages 18 and up and October 12 at 7:30 pm for all ages at the Continental Fire Co in Houghton. Tickets are just $5 and are available online along with more information at www.mtuski.com.
Even though the weather still looks like winter, Mont Ripley will be closed for the season. We have a very active off season that we need to get started on, first & foremost the rebuilding of the Husky lift. We just finished one of our longest seasons ever, unfortunately the crowds thinned out making it economically difficult to stay open.
Stay tuned here throughout the summer to see how were progressing toward our next great season!
Since winter is sticking around were going to open again this weekend! Hours are Friday 1-9 and Saturday & Sunday 10-5. The hill’s in perfect shape and the weather looks good. Sunday will be the 108th day of the season and the last day of the season.
The Ripley Tune & Supply will be blowing out jackets, snow pants and gloves at 45-50% off, you’ll never see prices this low again!
On Friday March 29th, we will open the Husky lift at 1:00 pm instead of 4:00 pm. The T-Bar and Copper Hoist will open later.
It looks like a beautiful sunny day coming our way, with perfect slope conditions!
Due to the 16 feet of snow that’s fallen since the middle of January the slopes are in perfect shape! We will extend our closing date of March 24th. We will re-open on Friday & Saturday March 29th & 30th, but close on Easter Sunday. We will try to re-open the weekend of April 5th, 6th, & 7th based on weather and attendance.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt & Slush Pit are this Saturday March 23rd. The Egg Hunt starts at 10am & the Slush Pit is at 1pm. $$Many Prizes$$
Thanks to the blizzard that rolled through the area earlier this week, we have excellent conditions here at Mont Ripley! We got over 20″ of snow. Prime Season hours are in effect so get your friends together and come play in the snow.
Not only do we love Blizzard T. Husky, but we love the “blizzard” weather! Since there are no classes today and the boss is away, come to Mont Ripley early to play. We are opening early, with the T-bar available starting at noon. Dress warm and come to Mont Ripley to spend your afternoon and evening having fun.
February has started with a bang, or should I say poof! snow conditions at Mont Ripley will be great! With the most natural snow in the Midwest and all of our man made snow, nobody could have better conditions.
Winter Carnival begins February 6th, with the torch light parade and fireworks on the 9th, SnoComp is also Saturday February 9th & we are up to 26 features in our terrain park.
