The annual meeting of the Friends of the Van Pelt Library will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, in the East Reading Room of the J. R. Van Pelt and John and Ruanne Opie Library. Everyone is welcome to attend. This year’s meeting features a talk, “Malta: The Surprising Little Country that Can,” by Associate Professor Mary Durfee (SS). Durfee taught at the University of Malta as a Fulbright Scholar in 2007-08, and since then she has been a visiting professor at least once a year. In spring 2012, she co-led a study tour of the country for the Society for Industrial Archeology.
