The FESEM is back online. The chiller repairs have been completed.
Unfortunately, the Field Emission SEM is down due to an issue with the instrument chiller. I’m working with the MTU HVAC technician to make the repairs.
The filament on the ESEM burned out. Once it’s cooled Dan will replace the wehnelt. If all goes well it should be available for use later this afternoon.
Just a quick update. The chillers have been repaired. We are working with FEI to get the STEM up and running. We will have a technician on-site next week. If all goes well the STEM will be available for use the week of July 19th.
The STEM is down due to issues with the chillers. I’m working with MTU facilities and Thermo Fisher on this problem. However, until we can resolve this issue, the STEM will not be available for use.
Thank you for your patience,
This is just a reminder that the ACMAL facilities will be CLOSED Monday, July 5th, 2021, in observance of the Fourth of July. This is a university holiday so the building will also be locked.
Only those with swipe access will be able to use the instruments.
Please plan your instrument use accordingly
The repairs to the chiller are completed and the STEM is available for use.
Due to issues with the chillers the STEM is offline. I’m working with facilities as well as Northern Heating and Plumbing to resolve this as soon as possible.
The EBSD detector repairs have been completed. Please contact ACMAL staff if you would like to use this functionality.
The carbon coater repairs are completed. If you need any samples coated, please contact Aleister, Josh, or myself.
