Strand Associates will be at Tech to conduct employment interviews on Thursday, October 19th. The job description and interview details are available on the Career Center/Handshake website. They are looking to hire full-time civil and environmental engineers and interns at all of their 10 locations. There will be an information session for Wednesday evening (Oct. 18) which will be on the career center website soon.
This semester, MTSF is awarding the Student Leadership Scholarship. Four $1000 scholarships will be handed out and are open to students from every major. Below is the scholarship application. The scholarships are due at 5PM on October 30th.

The Association of Cuban American Engineers (ACAE) and the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers (C-AACE) are glad to announce the 2018 Cuba Infrastructure Scholarship Competition!
It gives us great pleasure to invite all engineering students from ABET accredited programs to participate in this year’s scholarship competition. Participants will get the chance to win a scholarship of up to $6,000 and the opportunity to network with engineering professionals from both public and private industry sectors. Please distribute the attached information to engineering faculty and students.
The Cuba Infrastructure Scholarship Competition entails that university student teams formulate and present a project of their choice on Cuba’s public infrastructure that relates to the engineering field in transportation, water resources, power, telecommunications, healthcare or agriculture.
A CISC Participation Form is due on Sept 29th at 5PM in order to participate in the competition.

Representatives from BNSF are planning to hold an info session on Wednesday, Oct 4th, after Rail Day, but they need your help! They want to make sure the space they use is large enough, and they are planning to include food. In both cases having a feel for the number of students that will attend is crucial.

Crossing Borders (formerly Frontiers and Fortresses) MTU’s study abroad program will be traveling to Cumbria, England from July 14 – August 17, 2018. Allowing 10 weeks for internships, etc. before the students go to the U.K. More info here.

My name is Katie Tomasoski and I am the Manager of Technical Services for Verso’s Quinnesec Mill (located in the Upper Peninsula). Verso is a leading producer of printing papers, specialty papers and pulp and has two manufacturing locations in the UP! I graduated from MTU with a Chemical Engineering degree back in 2003. I will be at Tech this week for the career fair and will be hosting an info night on Wednesday at 7pm in the MUB Ballroom B-2. SME will be here for both Preview Day and Career Fair on Tuesday (9/26) and Wednesday (9/27). In addition, SME will be having an informational session on Monday, September 25th at 7 p.m. in Fisher 129. The event is being put on and co-hosted by ASCE, Chi Epsilon, and Triangle Fraternity in an effort to bring opportunities directly to civil and environmental engineers.
