Acknowledging that experienced Civil Engineering Technicians are in high demand, the Cumberland Ranger District of the Daniel Boone National Forest will soon be advertising a career ladder position that promises to be a rewarding experience for anyone who enjoys helping the public access and experience their national forests and has an appetite to learn new skills and grow into a very valuable agency role. September 22, 2020 — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a virtual career fair 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to help fill a number of seasonal and permanent positions.

MDOT has partnered with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity to give prospective candidates a chance to engage with MDOT staff, ask questions, and learn about current and future career opportunities through chat and video conversations.

The department is currently in need of more than 100 limited-term, winter maintenance workers in all regions of the state. The minimum requirement for these positions is a valid Michigan Class B CDL. All other training will be provided. This is a great entry point into the department and could lead to future full-time opportunities.

Other available positions include electricians, internships (including veterans, engineering, and Transportation Diversity Recruitment Program positions), transportation engineers, transportation maintenance workers (seasonal and full-time), transportation planners, transportation technicians, and other skilled trades and professional positions.

CEE Career Fair Preview – Company Videos!!

The Career Fair is just around the corner – Wednesday and Thursday of next week, Sept 23 & 24!  I hope you all have it marked on your calendar to attend (virtually), which means that you should be updating your resume and also researching companies!

My name is Ankur Singh and I am Design Build Coordinator and Project Engineer for the New Gordie Howe International Bridge Project in Detroit, MI. I am an experienced bridge builder and I have worked on Tapanzee Bridge (Stay Cable)  and San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge (Self-Anchored Suspension Bridge) previously. The joint venture is called Birding North America and I represent Fluor Enterprises, which is one of the partner companies of the joint venture.

We are hiring full time field engineer for the stay cable bridge and would like to reach out to the local schools to see if any of your students are looking a new exciting opportunity where they would like to work on and learn how build bridges. I would be highly obliged if you can pass the information to your students and they can contact me directly if they are interested. The needs are immediate.

Following is a brief description of what we are looking:

Procter and Gamble will be participating in the virtual career fair in a few weeks. My team and I are based out of P&G’s manufacturing facility in Green Bay, WI where we manufacture some of P&G’s iconic paper brands in Bounty, Charmin, and Puffs. We are hiring for both full time and intern manufacturing engineering positions. Our new engineers commonly start their careers as either process engineers where they focus on building, maintaining, and improving the systems we use to operate the equipment in our facility while building capability in our workforce or as plant engineers where they focus on utilizing the engineering work processes to evaluate and install the capability in our facilities in order to meet our business goals.

I’m hoping you can share this information with the Environmental Engineering department. It would be great to have some of these students fill out our online application and complete the associated assessments, which take about 30 minutes.
