Paid position. We would like to have someone begin right after the spring semester ends until end of August. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for hands on experience in a busy firm. The candidate must be capable of reading and understanding plans, working with field measuring devices, levels, calculating construction slopes and grades, completion of daily reports, and have their own transportation to and from office and job sites.

Van Buren County Road Commission (VBCRC), located in Lawrence, Michigan, is hiring Paid Engineering Technician Interns. Qualified candidates should have an interest in a summer of hands-on work experience in the field of transportation engineering.
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Preparation of inspector’s daily reports using Fieldbook/FieldManager
- Survey crew activities
- Drafting and calculating quantities, alignment, grade, and location according to project plans
- Construction site inspection activities
- And more!
Highway Engineer, Barry Anttila, will provide oversight and education to selected candidates. Barry graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He has 18 years of experience in the Engineering Department of Van Buren County Road Commission and currently oversees a staff of three full-time Engineering Technicians.
