Michigan Global Future Conference Promotes Talent Retention

The Global Talent Retention Initiative of Michigan (GTRI) is a talent retention and career development resource for employers and international students in Michigan.
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder says that “Immigants have a tremendous track record of being entrepreneurs. This is a way to turbocharge our economy.”
More than 100 international students from Michigan Tech, Finlandia, Northern Michigan University and Lake Superior State will meet at Michigan Tech today, to learn ways to prepare for a US job search, to meet international student-friendly Michigan employers and discuss internship and postgraduate opportunities in Michigan.

The conference is scheduled for 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The program includes sessions on writing effective cover letters and resumes, job search strategies and job interview skills, starting a business in Michigan and an employer’s view of a successful job candidate. A panel of international students will describe their own job search experiences, and one session will explore living, working and playing in Michigan.
