  • May serve as team member or participate in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
  • May oversee work performed by lower level Geologists/Hydrogeologists.
  • Works under the supervision of a Professional Geologist (PG) and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

SUMMARY

Purpose & Scope of The Position: 

The Mine Engineer – Strategic Development is responsible for long-term mine planning and assisting in developing metal plans. Reporting to the Chief of Strategic Development, the successful candidate will assist in providing technical guidance/support for the Mine Department and other Departments as required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the creation, refinement, and implementation of the long term mine plan (material sequence; access planning; pit design; shot muck inventory; blast design and planning; dump sequencing) to attain the Life of Mine Plan.
  • Coordinate mine planning and technical evaluation planning process and offer assistance or direct the activities for long and short-term projects (i.e. reclamation; hydrology; dump design; third party engineering studies; blasting techniques & procedures).
  • Assist in developing accurate metal plans, particularly for weekly plans.
  • Assist Mine Operations department to determine equipment requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Position Summary

Based in our Denver (Englewood), Colorado office, you’ll contribute to impactful mining projects around the world, focusing on the design and management of tailings dams and heap leach facilities. This role offers exciting opportunities for travel, client interaction, and hands­ on experience in the dynamic mining sector. The successful candidate will perform technical lead, Deputy engineer-of-record (EOR), or EOR duties and support the development of geotechnical investigation, design work, as well as systematic monitoring and surveillance activities. Additional professional experiences and project support would include earthen dam design, geotechnical site assessments and associated field services, dam breach evaluations, stability and deformation analyses, instrumentation installation design and data review, annual dam safety inspections, participation in audits and risk assessment, among other work. The position is meant to be dynamic and will be supported by multiple design teams (general civil, water resource, hydrogeological, etc.). The role as a Project Geotechnical Engineer also includes developing and maintaining client relationships and working with clients to execute scopes of work successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Advanced Engineering Analyses:
  • Develop and calibrate geotechnical and hydrological models for seepage, stability, and settlement analyses of tailings, heap leach, and water storage facilities, utilizing both 2D/3D limit equilibrium and finite element/finite difference methods for static and dynamic load conditions.
  • Support the development of constitutive relationships for numerical modeling.
  • Conduct liquefaction assessments using site-specific geotechnical and seismic data.

  • Prepare High-Quality Deliverables: Author and review technical reports, calculation packages, engineering design documents, technical specifications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Construction Documentation: Assist in the preparation and review of construction drawing sets and technical specifications.

Underground Short Range Planning Engineer

Job Description

The Underground Production Engineer is responsible for producing and delivering executable weekly mine plans that align with monthly plans. This role integrates input from multiple stakeholders across operations, geology, geotechnical, backfill, ventilation, and maintenance to ensure that all activities are coordinated, realistic, and achievable.

In addition, the planner contributes to the mine design of the AFM (Approved for Mining) workflows by generating OPEX centerlines and short-range stope shapes, which are then routed through the formal review and approval processes.

This position plays a key role in driving plan compliance, leading cross-functional planning workshops, and providing short-term scheduling support to maintain operational continuity. Reporting to the Senior Short Range Planning Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Develop and publish weekly mine plans aligned with 3-month rolling plans and operational targets

·      Lead cross-functional planning workshops to resolve constraints and define critical paths

·      Chair weekly planning presentations, communicating objectives and priorities

·      Monitor plan execution, track progress, and report variances with corrective actions

·      Create OPEX development centerlines and short-range stope shapes using Deswik MDM

·      Submit designs for technical review and approval

·      Provide short-term coverage for Drill & Blast Engineer as needed

·      Conduct regular field inspections of headings and stopes

·      Maintain and update the Stopes Priority Master Tracker

·      Align weekly and monthly activities with 3-month plans/forecasts

·      Contribute to lessons learned from stope reconciliation

·      Identify opportunities to optimize sequencing and remove inefficiencies

·      Adhere to the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environment policies

·      Promote safety awareness and environmental responsibility

·      Participate in safety initiatives and incident investigations

Qualifications

Education:

  • 4-year degree in Mining Engineering

Experience:

  • 0-3 years’ relevant experience in underground hard rock mining required
  • Experience in mine planning using DESWIK.sched or other scheduling software’s (previous experience with DESWIK.sched will be highly preferred)
  • Experience in Drill & Blast preferred
  • Experience in Longhole Open Stoping preferred
  • Experience in underground development planning preferred
