IGS Enterprise Info Session

Come learn about the Innovative Global Solutions Enterprise at our information Session:
 
Monday, March 26th, 6:00-7:00pm in M&M U113.
IGS works to find solutions to problems facing areas in need. Currently, we are engineering a low cost ventilator for a hospital in Ghana and designing a means of transporting vaccines in developing countries. IGS offers students the opportunity to apply skills to alleviating global problems and collaborating with teams locally and abroad with the possibility of being able to travel. Students in any major are encouraged to join! Jimmy John’s will be provided!

Scholarship: OHM Diversity Scholarship

OHM Advisors is committed to the academic success of women and minority students. That is why we offer a Scholarship that awards $1,000 to qualified women and minorities that are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a STEM program or other field of practice of OHM Advisors. We want to encourage eligible students to apply prior to each academic year. The Scholarship may be awarded to students for multiple years, and will require students to re-apply each year.

Requirements: 

• Woman or minority as defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Program (African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian or Pacific Islander, Multi-racial)

• Open to high school senior through college junior

• Must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a STEM Program or other field of practice of OHM Advisors the following academic year

• Cumulative average grade of a B (3.0 GPA) at the time of application is beneficial but not mandatory

General Meeting: Railroad Engineering and Activities Club

Hello,

    As you all finishing up the last days of your spring break, please note the upcoming REAC GBM. Our next meeting will be held on March 20, at 7pm in Rheki 214. During this months’ meeting, we will be holding elections for E-Board as well as hosting the guest speaker, Phil Pasterak. (speaking on Twin Cities Light Railroad).
    For more information regarding the officer duties as well as the GBM poster, see attachment in email. This Tuesday’s meeting will be the last chance you have to sign up for the Spring Trip. If you would like to know more about this trip, come to the meeting!

Scholarship: Wisconsin Section of the American Water Works Association (WIAWWA)

The Young Professional Committee created the WIAWWA Scholarship to encourage and support students pursuing a degree in the field of drinking water supply and treatment.  Each year we award a $1,000 scholarship to a University Student and a $750 scholarship to a Technical College Student pursuing a degree related to the drinking water industry.

GeoTenerife’s Summer Programme

GeoTenerife’s Summer Programme is now open for applications.

Thanks to the success of previous years’ programmes, we have a record number of placements available from June to September 2018.

The programme is run in association with the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute and includes:

– Geophysical survey for geothermal exploration
– Hydrogeochemical and soil CO2 efflux monitoring
– Volcano & Geothermal Seismic Research
– Diffuse CO2 degassing monitoring
– Hydrogeochemical and soil CO2 efflux monitoring
– Environmental monitoring (optical remote sensing)
– Environmental monitoring (CH4 emission from landfill)

The full range of skills students will learn on this programme is fully outlined on our website (http://geotenerife.com/summer-programme-info/), alongside video testimonials from previous candidates.
