SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) is now offering FREE Student Membership. By becoming a member of SWANA, students can…

· Meet with current leaders and decision makers working in solid waste, environmental science, composting, and recycling who can lead to potential internships and become future employers

Students can also register for only $50 for the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) World Congress and SWANA’s WASTECON 2017 which is taking place September 25-27 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Job Posting: Verso (Career Fair)

My name is Katie Tomasoski and I am the Manager of Technical Services for Verso’s Quinnesec Mill (located in the Upper Peninsula).  Verso is a leading producer of printing papers, specialty papers and pulp and has two manufacturing locations in the UP!  I graduated from MTU with a Chemical Engineering degree back in 2003.  I will be at Tech this week for the career fair and will be hosting an info night on Wednesday at 7pm in the MUB Ballroom B-2.  Besides learning more about Verso, students will have the opportunity to win a JBL Flip 4 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker & Car Charger Bundle  (along with free pizza of course!).  We are recruiting for Environmental Engineering co-ops.

SME will be here for both Preview Day  and  Career Fair on Tuesday (9/26) and Wednesday (9/27). In addition, SME will be having an informational session on Monday, September 25th at 7 p.m. in Fisher 129. The event is being put on and co-hosted by ASCE, Chi Epsilon, and Triangle Fraternity in an effort to bring opportunities directly to civil and environmental engineers. I graduated from Michigan Tech in Fall 2014 from the Civil Engineering department and I am up for the Career Fair with my company Harmon Inc. We are in the Curtain Wall and Glazing Industry which is basically the glass on skyscrapers and large buildings.

We are looking for 6 Contract Project Management Interns (Locations: Atlanta and/or Orlando, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Ft. Lauderdale, Seattle )1 Engineering Intern (Location: Minneapolis) 1 Manufacturing intern (Location: Baltimore).  If you relocate for the internship, we will provide housing.

I have attached a job description of the manufacturing, engineering, and project management internships along with an “Internship Info” flyer. Additionally, I have attached a “Harmon Internship Experiences” document that is an excerpt from our monthly HarmonLinc that is sent out company wide.

Four out of the nine interns we had this summer were from Michigan Tech.

I personally did 3 internships as a project management intern while attending Michigan Tech with Harmon Inc. working in Baltimore, Dallas, and Cincinnati. I have now been working full time for Harmon for almost 3 years out of the Baltimore office.

Business Careers Day-Sept 25

All students are cordially invited to join the School of Business and Economics for Business Careers Day at the CareerFEST Tent on Monday, September 25 from 11 a.m-2 p.m.   Also join us for the Business After Hours Social from 4-6 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge (MUB).

Registration for Railroad Night XIII and Rail Day & Expo 2017 has officially opened!

Presented by the Railroad Engineering & Activities Club (REAC), this is our showcase event that brings rail industry companies from all over to our very own Michigan Tech. Interact with rail industry employers in a casual environment, which also includes a sit-down dinner and a fascinating keynote! Plus, students will have a chance to win one of many door and raffle prizes during the event – which is covered by our modest $5 registration fee.

This is THE opportunity to ask questions of industry people, build out your network, and of course have fun. This is an exciting event which only comes around once per year!
