This scholarship is a one-time $5,000 award, provided upon confirmation of active enrollment in a geoscience graduate program. It is designed to support first-generation college students who are within two semesters of completing their bachelor’s degree in geoscience and are taking their first steps toward graduate education. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship will be awarded based on the applicant’s academic merit, demonstrated potential for success in a geoscience graduate program, and commitment to pursuing a career in the geoscience profession.

We want to share an exciting scholarship opportunity for Michigan Tech Pell-eligible students!  The S-STEM Husky PAWS (Pathways for Academic Wellness and Success) Scholarship Program awards one-year finishing scholarships for Pell students (Consult the Financial Aid Office, determined by the Federal Pell Grant program), majoring in the Colleges of Engineering and Computing, or in Physics/Applied Physics, who are completing their bachelor’s degrees or accelerated master’s degrees. This scholarship is awarded for one year, up to $15,000 for bachelor’s and $20,000 for master’s degree students. All applicants must reach senior standing (90+ credits) by the end of Spring 2026 and must have a plan filed with their academic advisor to graduate with their BS by December 2027. Accelerated MS students must also attain 90+ credits, but do not have a graduation timing restriction.
