Professor Stefaan De Winter will attend the Finite Geometries 2014, Fourth Irsee Conference being held September 14-20 at Augsburg University. De Winter will present an invited talk on “Automorphisms of strongly regular graphs.”
The campus community is invited to a retirement reception for Bob Kolkka, associate professor of mathematical sciences, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Memorial Union Alumni Lounge. Refreshments will be served.
PI Shivam Bharti (IIE) and Co-PIs Jingfeng Jiang (BME) and Min Wang (Math) were awarded $43,882 from University of Michigan/MIIE for “Translating Automated Flow Analysis into a Clinical Setting.”
Professor Vladimir Tonchev will be a guest lecturer at the NATO Advanced Study Institute in Ohrid, Macedonia. The conference is being held August 25 – September 5, 2014.
The goal of this Advanced Study Institute is to provide training and expertise to mathematicians, computer scientists, and engineers from NATO and partner countries in the area of arithmetic of hyperelliptic curves in developing and maintaining crypto systems based on hyperelliptic cryptography.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences has a new Minor in Statistics and a new Bachelor of Science in Statistics.
