RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Class Begins March 25

Master self-defense tactics and safety techniques through a comprehensive course designed specifically for women ages twelve and up. It begins with a focus on awareness, prevention, and risk reduction/avoidance, and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training.

R.A.D. is offered by Michigan Tech’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services through Community Programs, and the course is taught by Public Safety officers. The class combines both classroom instruction and hands on physical training.

Dates: March 25 to April 17
Days/Times: Tuesdays/Thursdays, 6:00-8:00pm
Location: SDC Racquetball Court #5
Cost: $30 for Michigan Tech students, $50 for non-students

Women only please. Minimum age of 12.

Get in that last workout (or two) before we take a SPRING BREAK! Whether it be Zumba or another fitness class, we are here for you.

Next week Community Programs will go on Spring Break (many classes will not be offered – check website for complete schedule), and we hope you take time to give yourself a break – in the sun, sauna, pool or around the house, you’ve earned it!

Kick It Up a Notch with Spin Class

It’s the last week of February

and it’s time to kick your workout up a notch! Spring Break is not that far away even though the snow is still piling up outside. Join us inside the Studio for a Spin class – a great energetic workout performed on a stationary bike.

Did you know?

Michigan Tech employees who are TechFit benefit eligible can use some of their $150 (and $100 total for dependents) for this awesome class! Instructors guide you through warm-ups, sprints, climbs, cool-downs, and more, with plenty of encouragement and upbeat music. Are you a beginner? No worries, check-out the Learn to Spin class here.

Classes are scheduled through the end of April. Join us anytime by committing with an 8-punch class card OR try us out for a single session for only $6.

Final Session of Learn to Skate Program for the Season

Our Learn to Skate program offers fun, challenging, and rewarding beginning skating classes for boys and girls of all ages and abilities. Students learn at their own level with others in their age group; classes are available for preschool (3­–5 years old) and basic levels 1–8 (6 years and up). Weekly program time includes a 25-minute lesson and a 55-minute practice session.

Spring Session (4 weeks), March 1-30

No class March 22 & 23

Class Day Options: Saturdays, 9:30-10:50am or Sundays, 5:00-6:20pm
4-Week Session Fees: Class & Practice $50 or Practice only (guardians) $8
Location: John MacInnes Student Ice Arena
