HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Athletics and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan have teamed up to promote the #MIKidsCan Campaign for the second year in a row. Local Copper Country youth will have an opportunity to be a part of the pregame ceremony for hockey, football, basketball, or volleyball.

Each lucky participant will be announced with the Huskies starting line up and either: lead the Huskies out on the ice and join them for the National Anthem, run the football to the refs for opening kickoff and then stand on the sideline for the kickoff, give the ball to the referee to start the game for basketball or volleyball, and sit at the end of the bench for the first quarter or set.

Please fill out this registration form through the link above to have your chance to become a Huskies #MIKidsCan Player of the Game. You must be in kindergarten through eighth grade. Participants will be randomly selected.

MIKidsCan is a part of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s ongoing efforts to help Michigan families make good choices leading to healthier lives. With a focus on improving children’s health, over the last 10 years, BCBSM has given more than $6 million in support of kids’ health and wellness initiatives across the state, reaching more than 100,000 children.

• Childhood obesity is a huge problem in the United States. Nearly 1 in 3 U.S. children are overweight.
• Michigan currently has the 18th highest childhood obesity rate in the U.S.
• The cost of health care is on the rise. Unhealthy kids are more likely to become unhealthy adults, which leads to higher health care costs.
• #MIKidsCan is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, a nonprofit independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
