New Geoscience Graduate Program Builds Global Partnerships in Education and Research

The new program, INVOGE (International Volcanology and Geotechniques), will build on Michigan Tech’s well-known graduate programs and global research in volcanology and geohydrology and will allow students to spend a significant part of their graduate study on campuses in France and Italy and at worldwide research sites, such as the Reunion volcano site in the French Indian Ocean.

Michigan Tech Partners with Army Corps of Engineers Environmental Lab

Michigan Technological University and the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Environmental Laboratory in Vicksburg have signed an educational and research partnership agreement that opens the door to a broad range of research projects, faculty exchanges and student internships. Michigan Tech’s planned Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) will house the new partnership on campus.

Baja Team Wins Award for Most Combined Points in All Three Baja SAE Events

For the first time in school history Michigan Tech has won the Mike Schmidt Memorial Iron Team Award in the SAE International Collegiate Design Series Baja Competition. The Iron Team title is awarded to the team with the most combined points after all three North American Baja SAE events. The Michigan Tech Blizzard Baja Enterprise team had won the 8th place finish in Alabama and a 2nd place finish in Oregon, and on Saturday June 13, they one 6th overall at the Wisconsin contest.
