SDC Shooting Range

Earn your MI Concealed Pistol License (CPL) through this one-day course brought to you by Michigan Tech Recreation, the SDC Shooting Range, and 906 Tactical. This is the course you must take to get your Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL). This is the premier course in the state of Michigan. The Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO) course covers what you need to carry a loaded weapon safely in open spaces. Rental equipment is available for an additional fee. Students will receive a copy of the course material on the day of class. No experience is necessary. Class size is limited.

Special Requirements

  • Minimum age 20 years old
  • Individuals are responsible for supplying their own ammunition (100 rounds).
  • There will be a firearms proficiency test and a written test that students will have to pass to complete the course.
  • Students agree to comply with all commands issued on the range and in the classroom.

Adult Huskies Swim Training provides additional attention and competitive guidance to swimmers ages 18 and older who are looking to improve their swimming skills and fitness levels in a group setting. Each session is programmed with a warm-up and variations of a workout for the beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmer. Participants will be provided coaching and guidance to meet their individual swimming goals!

Class day/time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-5:50 p.m.

Adult Huskies Swim Lessons provides aquatic education for the beginner to intermediate swimmer who is looking to become more comfortable in the water and learn the four fundamental strokes.

Fall 2022 HuskiesFit Group Fitness Class Schedule

The Tech Trails

We have made the decision to suspend grooming with the Bombardier due to failing conditions and our need to get moving on and hopefully finish much-needed repairs on it before we start on our many summer projects. However, we will continue to groom using drags and wheelers on the Upper Trails following our Spring schedule of grooming for the weekends and Tuesdays. We will continue grooming for as long as possible and stop when conditions dictate. Please refer to our trails conditions page for daily updates on our trails open and closures.

Thank you for your patience during this short interruption as we work through these much-needed projects. For current SDC members, please accept complimentary access to Gates Tennis Center and the Michigan Tech Trails from April 30 to May 15. In addition, select areas in the SDC have been made available on a reduced schedule, therefore requests for SDC membership extension will not be accepted. We view this temporary shutdown as a way to make a positive impact on multiple areas of the facility without causing the need for further/additional/unplanned closures and disruptions. We stand by our commitment to make improvements to our facility that will benefit our users today and into the future.

The SDC will reopen fully on Monday, May 16, with summer hours in place through Sunday, August 29. Please note that the SDC and the Gates Tennis Center will be closed on May 30 and July 4 for University recognized holidays.

At the Trails 

We have altered our trails grooming schedule as of Monday, April 4. The Michigan Tech trails will be groomed overnight on Monday, Friday, and Saturday. This plan is highly dependent on the weather and conditions might require us to close trails or suspend grooming to keep people safe.
