Summer Huskies Aquatics Programs: Session 1 Registration Closes Soon!

Don’t forget, registration is now open for summer Aquatics programs! We are excited to offer programs for both youth and adults from beginners to advanced participants with an extended variety of times. (Additional classes have been added.)

Parent & Child Aquatics – Ages 6 months – 3 years (morning and evening classes)
Preschool Aquatics – Ages 4-5 years (morning and evening classes)
Learn to Swim Levels 1-5 – Ages 6-17 years (morning and evening classes)
Huskies Swim Training – Advanced participants ages 6-17 years
Huskies Diving Clinic (NEW!) – Ages 6-17 years

PADI Open Water SCUBA Course October 13-15

Registration for the next Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Open Water SCUBA Course opens tomorrow, Wednesday, September 13 at 8 a.m.!

The course is conducted over two weekends and includes:

  • Ten hours of academic instruction (some coursework to be completed independently),
  • Ten hours of confined water training (SDC Pool), and
  • Four certification dives in Lake Superior (Marquette).

Upon registration, students will be given all required reading material and paperwork to complete prior to the start of the course. Students must be 18 years old and be able to swim 200 yards comfortably.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to all class sites, including the SDC and dive location in Marquette.

Course Dates and Times:

  • Friday, October 13 — 5-10 p.m., SDC
  • Saturday, October 14 — 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., SDC
  • Sunday, October 15 — 8 a.m. to noon, SDC
  • Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22, or Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29 — Open Dives in Marquette (exact location and time TBA)

Cost is $575 per person (includes all instruction, fees and training materials). The deadline to register is September 28, 11:59pm.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Blended Learning Course

Register today for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, a three-day intensive training course located at the Michigan Tech SDC Pool. The certification includes Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications and all training materials.

All participants must be 15 years of age or older by the first date of the course (documentation required). Required water skills include the ability to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes and complete a timed event in which participants retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 7-10 feet and swim 20 yards with the object.

Online training prerequisites must be completed by the first day of classroom instruction. The instructor will contact class participants with online course information and directions. Class size is limited.

Class Dates: April 14-16

  • Friday, April 14, 4:00pm-8:00pm
  • Saturday, April 15, 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Sunday, April 16, 8:00am-6:00pm

Adult Huskies Swim Training

Adult Huskies Swim Training provides additional attention and competitive guidance to swimmers ages 18 and older who are looking to improve their swimming skills and fitness levels in a group setting. Each session is programmed with a warm-up and variations of a workout for the beginner, intermediate and advanced swimmer. Participants will be provided coaching and guidance to meet their individual swimming goals!

Adult Huskies Swim Lessons provides aquatic education for the beginner to intermediate swimmer who is looking to become more comfortable in the water and learn the fundamental four strokes.
