Summer Hockey League – Registration Deadline June 20

July 12 – August 31

(8 weeks, 1 game/weekend)

Game Times (team schedules will be announced at start of league)

Saturdays, 10:30-11:20am & 11:30am-12:20pm
Sundays, 11:30am-12:20pm

Open to Grades 9-12 (as of Fall 2014)

New League Format

  • Players register individually, but teams will be organized by the high school they attend.
  • Teams will have a minimum of 12 players and a max of 17.
  • Minimum of 4 teams required to run the league
  • A league champ will be named based on points earned & the winning team will get individual prizes.

Games will consist of (2) 20-minute periods with a 5 minute warm-up. Players have the opportunity to continue working on theirhockey skills on a year-round basis while having fun. Our summer hockey league provides the extra time needed to improve those skills. Unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary rough play are prohibited. No checking. Each player receives a team jersey to keep. Each team will have a coach on the bench for all games. Referees and scorekeepers will be present at each scrimmage.

Registration Deadline: June 20

Register online or call the SDC Ticket Office at 487-2073. Payment must accompany registration. Registration is not complete until a release waiver is signed by a parent/guardian and turned into the Ticket Office.

All protective equipment must be worn. Locker rooms will be available. Michigan Tech is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Gain Strength & Develop Skills @ the Michigan Tech High School Football Clinic


JUST ANNOUNCED!

This clinic will ensure development of general strength as well as progression into football position exercises – strengthen cutting and jumping ability. Sessions will cover all muscle groups and safe techniques while at the same time pushing you to get ready for your fall season. Clinic held on Sherman Field and the Varsity Weight room at the SDC.

7-week session, June 16 – August 1, 6:00-8:00pm, three-four times per week. $250/person. Register today at the SDC Ticket Office or 487-2073.

Reminder: Water Safety Instructor Training June 15, 28 & 29


​A 3-day Water Safety Instructor Training course is now being offered through Michigan Tech Community Programs on June 15, 28 & 29. The comprehensive Red Cross WSI program trains instructors in water safety and drowning prevention and provides information needed to plan and conduct courses in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Cost to register is $260. Deadline to register is May 30.

Water Safety Instructor Training June 15, 28 & 29

Spring Hockey Carnival Event Set for May 31

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech will host a Spring Hockey Carnival at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena onSaturday, May 31. This free event for the whole family will feature games for kids, opportunities to interact with Huskies coaches and players and door prizes. The day also represents the final chance to purchase Tech season hockey tickets at the discounted price of $225.

The Spring Hockey Carnival will run between 4-6 p.m. with plenty to do. Youth are encouraged to bring their own hockey sticks and play floor hockey. Tech players will run skill sessions, and there may even be a chance to shoot against Huskies goaltenders.

All children will receive a free poster that they can have signed by Tech players. The locker room and other hockey facilities will be open to tour. A bounce house, video games on the arena’s big video board and music are also part of the evening.

Season tickets for Michigan Tech hockey purchased by the end of the Spring Hockey Carnival event are $225 apiece—$75 off the regular price of $300. Each season ticket guarantees a reserved seat for all 22 Michigan Tech home dates in 2014-15 (little more than $10 per game).

Dive Into Summer With SCUBA!!!

Michigan Tech Community Programs is offering a summer SCUBA class May 29 to June 26. The class will meet Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:30 p.m. at the SDC. Everything is provided—equipment, tank fills, books, and supplies—all you need is a suit and towel. At the end of the course, you can earn a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certification after completing an open-water dive. Cost of the class is $375 and is limited to 8 people. Registration will close May 15 so that supplies can be ordered in time for the class.
