SDC & Gates Tennis Center Adjust Facility Guidelines

In keeping with recently updated university guidelines, the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex (SDC) and Gates Tennis Center are adjusting facility guidelines. Michigan Tech announced a move to Health and Safety Level Two effective Saturday, Sept 18, 2021.

At Health and Safety Level Two:

  • Face coverings will be encouraged but not required in the Student Development Complex, MacInnes Student Ice Arena, Gates Tennis Center, Nordic Ski Wax Center, and other Athletic and Recreation facilities.
  • Face coverings will still be required in SDC classrooms and laboratories during classes and lab courses.
  • Face coverings may also be required during faculty office hours at the discretion of the individual faculty member.
  • Face covering requirements for fully vaccinated close contacts, as listed in Tech’s Quarantine Guidelines, will remain in place.

Please reference and adhere to all posted signage in Athletic and Recreation facilities. The MTU Flex plan is structured to be responsive to fluctuations in case count and other factors related to COVID-19.

We encourage all fans to please continue frequent handwashing (especially before and after meals), hand sanitization, monitor symptoms and receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

The SDC is open to Michigan Tech students, members, and action pass holders. General membership sales resumed on July 1, but day passes and action passes are not being sold at this time. Details regarding membership rates, open recreation schedules, facility rules, and requirements for entry can be found at MichiganTechRecreation.com. Fall semester building hours begin August 30 and go through December 16, with reduced hours during Thanksgiving break.

A variety of recreation programs and events will be open to the community and offered throughout the Fall semester. Schedules and registration details are continually being updated at MichiganTechRecreation.com.
