The Priya Haji Fellowship

True Ventures is offering The Priya Haji Fellowship which gives recent graduates the chance to join a startup as a full time employee. Haji Fellows are paired with companies in the True Ventures portfolio in the San Francisco Bay Area for a period of nine months. During the Fellowship, participants will develop foundational skills to help build their resume and expand their career knowledge of high-growth technology startups. Fellows will meet periodically with folks from True Ventures to discuss their progress and experiences. This fellowship opportunity is open to students completing their undergraduate degree in the spring of 2016. Applications are currently being accepted and those interested are encouraged to submit as soon as possible. The Fellowship will take place from September of 2016 through May of 2017. Women are especially encouraged to apply and will make up at least half of next year’s participants. If interested, apply here.

True Entrepreneur Corps Fellowship Opportunity

True Entrepreneur Corps (TEC), is a ten week summer fellowship designed to help undergraduate college students get a foot in the door in the startup world. TEC Fellows are matched with San Francisco-based companies where they spend the summer working on projects appropriate to their backgrounds and interests (both technical and non-technical). Additionally, the group gathers weekly for workshops and a speaker series to dig into the venture capital and startup processes. TEC 2016 will run from early June to early August and all fellows will be expected to live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area. True Ventures is accepting 12 TEC Fellows for 2016. If you are capable, hardworking and have a passion for technology and entrepreneurship, consider applying for this amazing opportunity. Applications are being accepted until January 31, 2016, however True Ventures encourages students to apply early as the 12 available spots are often filled prior to the deadline. 2015 Bob Mark Elevator Pitch Competition

Calling All Entrepreneurs and Innovators!

All Tech students are invited to participate in or join the audience for the 2015 Bob Mark Elevator Pitch Competition on the evening of Nov. 12th. Each participant will have 120 seconds to pitch their business idea to a panel of expert judges. Pitch or come out and see the show and network with Tech’s most entrepreneurial students! Expect professional sound and lights and a large crowd (seats 400+). The event will be followed by a showing of the movie Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher.

1st Prize:

  • $1000 cash
  • $5000 expense account*
  • 1 year of Smartzone office space
  • $2500 business consulting**

2nd Prize: $500 cash

3rd Prize: $250 cash

Audience Favorite: $200 cash

*Expense valid for one year to reimburse startup expenses

**Startup business counseling services provided by the Michigan Tech Office of Innovation and Industry Engagement to include intellectual property, commercialization, and capital fundraising strategy development. Services are valued at $2,500 will be provided in collaboration with the Michigan Small Business Development Center and the Pavlis Honors College Innovation Center for Entrepreneurship. Delivery of these services will not affect ownership of intellectual property or of the startups receiving the services.

The James Madison Fellowship Program

The James Madison Fellowship Program seeks to strengthen teaching in the nation’s schools in regards to the framing, principles, and history of the U.S. Constitution by supporting college graduates who are interested in teaching American history, American government, and social studies at the secondary school level. The program’s goal is to ensure that secondary school teachers are knowledgeable and informed in these important civic subjects.

The James Madison Memorial Foundation is offering $24,000 in fellowships to qualified Graduate applicants this year. As an applicant, you need only compete against others within your state. The Foundation is hoping to award one fellowship per state every year and the 2016 application period is now open.

ORAU Now Accepting Applications for Inaugural ORNL Challenge Program

Applications are now being accepted for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Challenge Program, an innovative new program designed to give undergraduates an early start on the scientific process and solving real world science problems. The program is a 10-week summer internship that awards winning candidates a competitive weekly stipend, furnished housing, and travel assistance to and from ORNL. Participants will be able to conduct hands-on research under the direction of a scientist or engineer at ORNL.

Eligible applicants must be an undergraduate junior or senior in good standing at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Participants are selected based on their ability to derive a solution to a research Challenge Question. The two challenges are “Simulation and Design of Artificial Model Magnets Challenge” and “The ORNL Distributed Energy Research Challenge.”
